Waylond emerged in the alley behind the diner with his nephew. He knew the Sith were close. The cries of the residents were growing closer together.
"What did you do?" Waylond said, turning quickly on his nephew. "What are they after you for?" The Nautolan looked fiercely back into his uncle's eyes and said, "I've been aiding the Republic! It's something you used to do before these guys took over Coruscant." The Zabrak was taken aback by his nephew's response. "We don't have time for this now. We need to get to the spaceport!" -------------------- |

Rico kept his eyes on the Bounty Hunter as the he crossed the diner and joined the group of men near rear exit. This just didn't look good. He could hear the commotion in the street and new that the Sith were coming. If what they wanted was in this building, they'd likely tear it apart to find it. He knew that a former soldier of the Republic wouldn't exactly be welcome.
He stood up and sheathed his vibro-knife, then hurried out the back door in pursuit of the others. "Hey, wait up buddy!" Rico spotted the group just a short way down the alley behind the diner. Trotting over to them, he could see the young Nautolan and his Zabrak uncle were in the midst of a serious debate. "I've been aiding the Republic! It's something you used to do before these guys took over Coruscant." The words echoed in Rico's ears like a battle cry. At that moment, he knew this group was in more trouble than he could have imagined. "Hey friend," Rico looked at the Zabrak. "Name's Rico... Rico VanZant. I know we haven't met, but I'd like to come with you. There's no place on a Sith infested planet for an old soldier like me... and if I can get my hands on a blaster of some sort, I could probably be of service. How bout' it?" Rico extended his hand toward the Zabrak and made his best attempt to grin through a face that had been sliced by wooden splinters and shards of glass. -------------------- ![]() "Keep your fears to yourself. Calys guided the group out of the back entrance of the diner and carefully slid down the ally way attempting to create some stealth. The sounds of battle began to grow louder but still in the distance. Calys made a quick right down another alley keeping his long range rifle primed for action. The beeps of his wrist radar echoed in his ear piece as the group followed.
The group behind him murmered and argued but Calys didn't care. He knew the situation was grave for them but the money was good, and besides, if it got too dicey he could probably negotiate a deal with the Sith. However, his main goal was to get himself to the ship unharmed with his clients. "Name's Rico... Rico VanZant. I know we haven't met, but I'd like to come with you. There's no place on a Sith infested planet for an old soldier like me... and if I can get my hands on a blaster of some sort, I could probably be of service. How bout' it?" Stopping and turning, Calys looked back at the man in tattered soldier clothes and stopped. Looking the man named Rico up and down, Calys narrowed his eyes as Rico's face was bleeding from many different places. "Hello Rico, it is good to see someone in this group can defend themselves with a blaster rather than a light sword." Reaching behind his back, Calys unbuckles his blaster pistol and offers it to Rico. "If I give you this, I hope you wont shoot me in the back after what I did to your face. Luckily, when get to the ship, I have a medical droid that will heal your wounds in no time. Deal?" -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Meg - ∞] ![]() |

"If I give you this, I hope you wont shoot me in the back after what I did to your face. Luckily, when we get to the ship, I have a medical droid that will heal your wounds in no time. Deal?" The stranger was taking a chance handing over a weapon to someone who had been ready to stick a knife in him less than a few minutes ago. Rico recognized that perhaps the man's situation was as perilous as his own. The Sith didn't take kindly to insubordination from bounty hunters, no matter how good they were.
Rico turned his head and nodded. "No worries. I've had worse than these scratches." He reached out and took the blaster pistol, a modified WESTAR-29. The weapon must have cost a pretty penny and he imagined how many unfortunate souls had been dragged to their demise to finance such a purchase. Tucking the pistol securely into his jacket, he looked back at the rest of the group. "We should definitely get going." -------------------- ![]() "Keep your fears to yourself. Share your Courage!" |

Waylond Xchiline peaked around a corner of a local department store as bounty hunter and soldier exchanged greeting and weapons. The Zabrak watched as a several Sith troopers barged into the shattered entrance to the diner. He heard no shots emanate from the diner, and he breathed a sigh of relief for Emone.
"We need to move. It won't take them long to figure out we're on our way off planet." Waylond said as Dren peaked around his shoulder. The Nautolan padded behind him as Waylond led the team down the side walk and through a store front. They passed several surprised shoppers as they worked their way to the back of the store and found the exit to the back alley. Exiting the store, they continued on their way to the spaceport. The group quickly came to a broad promenade that stood between the commercial district of Coronet. A fountain separated the motley crew from the port entranc. Through the mist and spray, Waylond could see several armored troopers standing guard. "Looks like we have trouble, boys," Waylond said, motioning with his blaster across the promenade. "Uncle, give me a blaster," Dren Xito said. Waylond through a menacing look over his shoulder and spat, "I'm not sure your new friend would approve of you having a weapon. I'm not sure I would either." Waylond looked away before he could see the hurt expression cross his nephew's face. "Any ideas, Bounty Hunter? Jedi?" -------------------- |

The Jedi hesitated a moment as he backed out the rear door of the diner a few meters behind the rest of the group. He kept quiet as he followed the rest making an effort to calm his mind and contemplate the current events. For all the odd situations one would expect a Jedi to get himself into he found it quite odd that he, along with a man who would appear to be a very capable Republic soldier, would be relying on a Bounty Hunter and a Barkeep to get off a planet being quick over run by Sith troops. A part of him wanted to stay behind in the diner and do what he could to slow the spread of the Sith troopers on this planet. Logic and reason, not emotional response, was the cornerstone of his orders teachings and code but even after the passing of some time the events on Corsucant were impossible to forget. It had become next to impossible for many Jedi to keep their emotions from clouding their thoughts and had to spend more time in meditation just keeping their anger and pain from impacting their actions and decisions.
Anduin's mind was clear now though. He couldn't sense the presence of any Sith on the planet. They must not know he is here. They have simply sent troops after the boy it would seem. He was relieved as it would only prove to entice more harm on the citizens of Corellia if they were thought to be harboring Jedi. As the group exited out the back of the store into the alley Anduin caught up with them passing by Calys and the old soldier that introduced himself as Rico just as they made their exchange. He paused for a second and turned to face them "keep those blasters in their holsters and we can get off this planet without having to use them. There is too much risk in fighting out way out of here with too many bystanders around...too much risk for the kid." The Jedi motions to Dren and then turns to take in the situation in the square before them. "Any ideas, Bounty Hunter? Jedi?" the Zabrak diner owner asked just as Anduin came up to his side. "Well," Anduin replies, "we're dealing with a few simple troopers it seems. These guys are fairly use to dealing with Bounty Hunters and we just so happen to have one handy. He should be able to get through easily with you and our friend Rico in custody on the way to collect a bounty. This should also get us launch authorization codes to get past the ships I'm sure they have in orbit without raising anyones attention." Anduin pauses for a second in thought and then continues "I shouldn't have a problem getting your nephew through with me. I can be very...convincing. Once inside we should be able to get to our ships without much more of an issue. The only problem is going to be launch codes for your freighter Waylond. I would prefer not having to attempt to run a blockade and risk Dren if it can be avoided and it would also prevent them from attempting to track us." He looks back at the others "any connections around here that might be able to help us out with a second set of launch authorization codes?" -------------------- |

After listening to the Jedi's plan, Calys heard one obvious flaw with it. And although it could mean a lot of credits in his pocket, he actually felt a sense of worry for what would happen if what he dreaded was true.
"What if they want to collect my two 'bounties' then and there Jedi? Instead, I have a similar plan that would work in our two best interests. Why don't you become my prisoner and while the soldiers are distracted, Rico takes the two of them past the group. If they try to retain you, we take care of them the old fashion way and hurry onto the star port. I know your not afraid to get your hands dirty, so let's try to give it a shot eh?" Calys winks as he makes a gun motion with his hand and shoots a finger at the group. -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Meg - ∞] ![]() |

"I'm really starting to ponder if you've ever even opened a door in your life or just shot them all open with your blaster, Bounty Hunter." Anduin lets out a barely audible sigh, "your plan banks on those troopers causeing more trouble over a bounty from the Hutts on some random Zabrak and Human they have no interest in at all rather than a Jedi. I would almost think you're looking for a fight. This along with the fact that it get's us no launch codes to pass the cruisers that are no doubt in orbit. I suppose you'd just like to shoot your way past them as well? You may as well simplify your plan and go over there and kill them yourself without bothering with deception. They will let two random small bounties off the planet they won't let you just hop on your ship with a Jedi and head off into space."
He shakes his head again, "besides, it places too much risk on the people of this planet. If they think there are Jedi here it will only bring more troopers alond with Sith to try and track us down even if there are no more here." -------------------- |

Rico his his vibro-knife to the sleeve of his jacket and tucked the WESTAR-29 blaster pistol that Calys had given him into the back of his waistband. Turning toward the bounty hunter, he placed his arms behind him. "Just slip the manacles on loosely so I can get them off in a hurry if need be. Personaly, I'd prefer just overpowering the two guards and shooting our way to the ships. But... this sounds like a pretty good plan too."
In truth, Rico had been used to taking orders from Jedi for a long time now. They made fine officers on the battlefield and the feats they performed with their use of "the force" often astonished him. No doubt, this one could convince the two troopers to let us pass with little more than a flick of his wrist. -------------------- ![]() "Keep your fears to yourself. Share your Courage!" |

As the trio behind him pondered how to get launch codes, get past guards, and blasting their way through the inevitable fleet orbiting the planet, Waylond Xchiline watched as a group of men and women dressed in riot gear began assembling and began gesitculating towards the Sith guarding the entrance to the spaceport.
"Men," the Zabrak called over his shoulder and motioned to the group with a nod of his head, "we may not have to worry about sneaking past any guards. Local militia has arrived on the scene." Suddenly the air around the fountain erupted in green, blue, and red light as Sith troopers and Corellian militia opened fire on each other. Waylond motioned for his comrades to move. "Quickly! Let's go before those Sith call in reiforcements!" The Zabrak drew his blaster, leading his nephew and the rest of his group out of the alleyway. -------------------- |

Anduin quickly turned and moved to the Zabrak's side as he announced the arrival of local fighters. The group was surprisingly well geared and trained for being local freedom fighters. "Well Calys...looks like you just may get your chance to blast your way in. That is if the locals leave any for you." The Jedi reaches inside his robe and pulls out the hilt of his lightsaber as he turns to the rest of the group and motions for them to follow Waylond across the square towards the starport.
He waited till the last of the group had moved into the open and then took up a position in the back of the group as they moved out into the open. They moved at a quick trot as they took care to not get noticed and try to avoid the skirmish going on between the two forces. "Waylond", Anduin yelled to be heard over the sounds of blaster fire and screaming, "is there a side entrance we can head to? If we try to make it in those front doors these militia soldiers are going to be shooting strait at us as well." Just at that moment a blaster bolt sizzled as it ricocheted off the ground in front of him. In an instant the yellow blade of his lightsaber extended as he quickly moved to deflect another bolt headed straight for him sending off a whizzing noise as it reflected off into the sky. He looked to the corner of an incoming street to see a Sith trooper taking aim for another shot at the group. Immediatly he took of sprinting towards the trooper deflecting 2 more shots, this hitting the ground and the wall behind the attacker. Once he reached about 20 feet away from the soldier the Jedi lept into the air, making a quick motion that sent the trooper stumbling back against the wall, then landing within about 2 feet of the soldier he drove his saber through his chest and quickly retracted the blade allowing the body to crumple to the ground at his feet. Hearing more shouting coming from around the corner Anduin peered around the building down the oncoming street. Immediatly a sense of urgency filled him as he turned and began running back to the group, his lightsaber brought back to life as he kept looking over his shoulder. He shouted on his way "Find cover! We've got an incoming patrol of about 20 troopers behind us! We need to find a way to let the leader of this militia know they are about to be flanked!" -------------------- |

Dren Xito fell to the ground behind the fountain as he watched the Jedi leap into the air and eliminate the Sith troopers with skill and ease. He heard the man shout something and watched as his uncle surveyed the battle beginning to rage around us.
"How do I find myself in these situations?" Waylond Xchiline muttered to himself. He aimed at one of the Sith guarding the spaceport entrance, preoccupied with fire coming from the militia. The Zabrak fired, hitting one trooper in the soldier, knocking him backwards into the wall. The soldiers weapon fell from his hand. The commotion caused his comrade to turn and open fire on uncle and nephew. Waylond looked for his new-found acquaintances as blaster fire ricocheted off their cover. He knew they were nearby, but found it difficult to locate them through the smoke beginning to fill the promenade. The Zabrak turned to his nephew, "We need to find our group again, or we'll be blasted to shreds out here!" -------------------- |

Rico rolled behind the fountain and came up on one knee, firing from cover toward the Sith position at the starport entrance. His head on a swivel, he surveyed the firefight taking place. The Sith didn't seem to have any additional guards on duty and the militia was winning. This should be over quickly, he thought to himself.
"Find cover! We've got an incoming patrol of about 20 troopers behind us! We need to find a way to let the leader of this militia know they are about to be flanked!" Jaedan's warning made Rico wince. The militiamen were doing well but the arrival of twenty troopers wouldn't bode well for any of them. Without time to spare, Rico knew they had to end the initial conflict quickly and get inside. "Cover me!" Rico didn't look back as he bolted upright and charged the remaining three Sith soldiers at the entrance. The WESTAR-29 was only deadly at close range but the former Republic Trooper managed to make the three Sith duck behind a barricade before one of them noticed him and returned fire. He was half-way across the promenade and closing fast when a well placed shot exploded the cobblestones at his feet and sent him hurdling forward in a full-on flip. Tucking his gun-arm into his body, he absorbed the impact of the roll on his right shoulder and managed to get his feet back under him, barely breaking his momentum. A second later he placed two fatal shots into the torso of the soldier who had nearly finished him. "FOR THE REPUBLIC!!!!" he bellowed, as he launched himself head on into the two remaining soldiers. (OOC: Alright boys and girls! Time to kick the tires and light the fires and start RPing more! Elections are over, so no more excuses!!
Waylond raised his blaster and aimed over Rico's shoulder as he went diving into the Sith guarding the door. Pulling off three shots, he watched as one Sith was slammed into the wall from the force of his blast. The Zabrak broke cover, motioning for his nephew to hold his ground, and followed the soldier into the fray. Dren Xito looked around the newly made battlefield. He had lost track of the Jedi and Bounty Hunter through the smoky haze that was now filling the promenade. He looked for other signs of Sith reinforcements or for a chance to take a shot at one by surprise. -------------------- |

(OOC: Gonna jump right in here, if you guys don't mind. I was meaning to jump in a little earlier but hadn't fleshed out enough backstory in my head yet. I'll probably have to come back and clean this up later too..
Vanelli stepped out of the shop, into the cool evening air. Feeling a little chilly, the twi'lek pulled the hood of her cloak over her head, hiding her lekku (braintails) and most of her red face. "I think I'll head on over to Dren's and see if I can find some smuggler's willing to do a bit of gunrunning," thought Vanelli. “The militia will need more weapons soon, with the way those new recruits are coming in.” The sounds of shouting and blaster fire coming from the spaceport snapped her out of her thoughts. "Dren's will have to wait," thought Vanelli as she turned towards the spaceport. “Out of the way!” shouted a Sith trooper as they stormed past her, on their way to the spaceport. She estimated that at least two dozen troopers had run past her. Va’nelli crouched and drew a holdout blaster from a holster on her left thigh and fired several shots at the backs of the Sith troopers. The first shot hit a trooper square, between the shoulder blades sending him in to his comrade to the left, causing Va’nelli’s second shot to only graze that trooper’s shoulder. Both her third and fourth shots went wide. She wasn’t a great shot, but good enough to be a useful skill. Va’nelli stood and waved as the commander yelled something undecipherable, but obviously angry. Their return fire barely missed her as she ran in to an alley off to her side. She holstered her blaster and surveyed the alley. “Great, dead end,” muttered Va’nelli as she spotted a narrow ledge high above her head. With the assistance of a dented plasteel case sitting in the corner she was able to vault herself high enough to grab a hold of the ledge. The twi’lek pulled herself up and with her back to the wall, slowly inch her way back to towards the entrance. She could hear the troopers rounding the corner in to the alley and hoped they didn’t look up too soon. Four troopers entered the alley with their blaster rifles at the ready. The first trooper signaled for two of the troopers to follow slowly and watch their backs. The two lead troopers reached the dead end and turned around in confusion. Va’nelli dropped down into a crouch between the four troopers. Her left palm came up and the first two troopers crashed back in to the wall, knocking them unconscious. In the same moment Va’nelli spun, her lightsaber humming to life, the yellow blade taking one of the remaining troopers’ right arm off at the shoulder. Va’nelli shouldered the one-armed trooper on to his back and brought her lightsaber up to deflect a blaster bolt high. She ran the one-armed trooper through with her saber and leapt at the remaining trooper with an overhead attack, her saber sliding through the upper body of the trooper. Va’nelli set off back towards the unconscious troopers with a grim look on her face, the saber in her right hand still out. Va’nelli removed her cloak and tossed it aside as she ran off towards the spaceport. This post has been edited by Thriolith: Sep 16 2009, 05:05 PM -------------------- |

Rico's aim wasn't quite what he'd hoped for, as one Sith guard was able to step out of the way. He did, however, smash head on into the other guard, sending them both crashing to the ground in a swinging pile of arms and legs. The blasters of both men flew from their hands, and the Sith's helmet skittered across the ground and out of reach. Unfortunately for Rico, the momentum of their collision brought the guard to the top of the pile, where he immediately took the opportunity to rain several crushing blows down on Rico's already bloodied face.
Rico, deflected as many punches as he could as he wrapped his legs around the man's torso. With a quick reach upward, he grabbed hold of the black armored vest and pulled his assailant closer toward him. As the two men came face to face, Rico snarled and clamped his teeth around the Sith's nose, biting with as much force as he could muster. His mouth filled with blood as his victim screamed and struggled to get free of the deranged trooper's grasp. Rico used his newly created leverage and rolled the disfigured guard back underneath him. Two quick slams of the poor man's head against the unforgiving cement and his opponent was neutralized for good. Rico spat the bloody hunk of flesh and cartilage out of his mouth and whirled around to face the next opponent. Instead of a second Sith guard Rico delighted to see the Zabrak, Waylond, advancing to his position having already finished the last obstacle between them and the gate. "We've got to get inside and lock these gates behind us before reinforcements get here." Rico armed himself with a blaster rifle from one of the dead guards and retrieved the borrowed WESTAR as he spoke. "Where are the others?" Waylond Xchiline scurried into the doorway where Rico was waiting, his Nautolan nephew following close behind. Seeing the blood, and then the flesh and cartilage, Waylond glanced at Rico and smiled, "I like your style. The cartilage is a first for me," he said with a wink as blaster fire erupted overhead.
"We've got to get inside and lock these gates behind us before reinforcements get here." Rico armed himself with a blaster rifle from one of the dead guards and retrieved the borrowed WESTAR as he spoke. "Where are the others?" "I'm not sure where our Bounty Hunter friend and Jedi are," Waylond said peering through the smoky haze of the promenade. "There's our Jedi," the Zabrak said pointing to a glowing area through the smoke. "Dren, see if you can get this gate open," Waylond ordered his nephew. "I'm sure the port is on lockdown due to the commotion. See if you can bypass their lockdown codes and get this gate open." Without saying a word, the Nautolan ripped open a control panel and began crossing wires in the hopes to override the lockdown. As Dren Xito worked furiously, Waylond and Rico continued to take shots at random Sith patrols as they tried to take up positions to fire on the trio. -------------------- |

Vanelli ran out of an alley, dust flying up from her boots as she skidded into a turn down the main street. The sounds of the battle grew louder as she raced into the promenade.
"Kill the Twi'lek!" shouted a voice from behind her. She had gotten ahead of the troopers she was chasing and now they were opening fire on her. Vanelli drew her lightsaber and continued to run, deflecting any bolts that came too close. "She's a Jedi, spread out!" shouted another trooper, as Vanelli ran further into the promenade. "Don't let her get away!" Vanelli found herself at the fountain, in the middle of the promenade. Thankfully, the haze and their distance wasn't helping the aim of the Sith troopers any. She pulled a CryoBan grenade, one she had acquired from one of the fallen Sith troopers back in the alley, from her belt pouch. She threw the grenade and gave it a little push with the force, sending it towards the troopers. The blaster fire slowed, apparently the Sith troopers hadn't spread out enough. Vanelli ducked and continued her run across the other side of the promenade. She skidded to a stop in front of the doorway, the blasters of the Zabrak and human leveled at her. "Waylond? Trooper?" asked the surprised Twi'lek as she looked from the Zabrak to the human. She did a double-take at the blood dripping from the trooper's mouth and shrugged, it clearly wasn't his. "I hope those aren't friends of yours," said Vanelli as she gestured in the general direction of the Sith troopers, as she turned and deflected an incoming blaster bolt into the ground. Blaster fire echo'd all around him, and Calys lit his jetpack to get some higher ground. Taking a slight right, he landed on the roof of a building next to him where the Sith were easier to be seen. Taking out his rifle and a laser scope, he extended the long barrel. His custom laser rifle was made to turn into a semi automatic sniper rifle.
Throughout the battle, Calys was able to take careful aim of the Sith troopers and fire at them from a place of complete cover. Many Sith fell from Calys' accurate firing that day. Out of the smoke, a yellow lightsaber was running to the building he was on top of. Calys used his jetpack to land right behind the Jedi when he saw the rest of the group hiding behind the house. Shocked that the Jedi was not the same as the one he saw before, Calys shook his head, and spoke. "Well, that was fun. While theres all this fighting here, I think hiding in a house is a bad idea. Lets keep moving and work our way around the prominade to get to the starport. No doubt by now word has been made that there are Jedi in the city." Just as he spoke he heard, "Stop there Jedi!" and the distinctive sound of a lightsaber being turned on behind them. Out of the corner of his eye, Calys saw the Sith man holding his weapon, the glow of a red blade around his silhouette. -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Meg - ∞] ![]() |
