Clamato and Beer ?! What ?!
« on: July 26, 2012, 03:46:10 PM »
So last night Stregger and Kricket were trying to convince me that Clamato and Beer was something that Canadians actually drank . . . together . . . . as a mixed drink.

I figured they were pulling my leg to see if I'd do it. They are sneaky that way you know . . . .

I thought I'd investigate it first . . . and lo and behold . . . . I found quite a few sites that claim this is actually true. That even Budweiser came out with a drink:

Huh . . . crazy stuff . . . never heard of it before. Thought I'd share in case anyone else is brave enough to give it a shot.

I'd rather just have a bloody mary.

Its a Canadian's version of a Bloody Mary.  :torynn:

Have several folks down here in Texas that do the same. I prefer beer...as beer. No additives, just nice and ice cold please.

It's pretty popular. I'm not a fan, but it's generally accepted as a good hangover cure too.

What American's really miss out on is the caesar made with Clamato.

Clamato
Vodka
Worcestershire
Tabasco
Rimmed glass
Celery

Yum. Don't have too many though, it's not something you want to barf up.

I've had beer/clamato, and I like the Caesar recipe listed above. How do Americans make it?

They use plain ole tomato juice...so pedestrian. I wouldn't even feed that to my polar bear.

Also... Makani...I am dissappoint.
You haven't tried it yet? I figured you'd spend all day today getting smashed out of your mind on Beer and Clam.

Working on it. My wife is out in Kansas for some strange reason so I need to make sure I get smashed when the kids have gone to bed first.

I guess I'm way out of the loop here. Never knew so many folks liked clam in their drinks !

Incidentally, the canned stuff tastes like pure unadulterated ass. Get yourself some regular clam (not the extra-spicy) and mix 1:3 with whatever generic beer you want. No need to ruin a nice beer with Clamato.
