Pft.....

I think I speak for everyone when I say we all hope we're wrong and there's plenty of hardware to go around and no delays.  :)   But, I'll be really surprised if they produce enough units.

Their release timing is almost suspect in my mind of intentional very low volume to hedge their bets and then ramp prior to the 2017 Christmas season based on reception. :)  Safe and smart... will be interesting to see what they do.

If my memory serves me right, the first run of the Wii selling out so fast was a surprise even to Nintendo. The subsequent runs were restricted on purpose to keep the demand up. They may try some form of this tactic again. The buzz around this one is generally positive so far. I've been listening to IGN's "Nintendo Voice Chat" podcast*. One thing they pointed out about the announcement trailer was that there was nothing shown to prove that the tablet part was in fact a touch screen. This isn't to conclude it's not a touch screen, especially given this thing is not only the replacement for the Wii U but the 3DS/2DS as well. I think it needs to be touch capable.

*I LOVE the name of this podcast. I started listening just this year so I haven't heard their reasoning for calling it that, but I can assume it's a jab at Nintendo's refusal to introduce VOIP to "save the kiddies".

That's not what happen at all.  They showed the Wii and everyone was like "no".  If you were the big N would you set your production at max?  It took off and they had to ramp up production that takes a lot of time like a lot.  lets not forget retailers ordered what they though they needed based on everyone saying the Wii would never sell...... Also Switch does not replace the DS unit they have said so much.

everything Nintendo sells always has low stock. we are getting 15+ xboxes and ps4s shipped to us a week at work. we are lucky if we get 2 3ds and 2ds handhelds a month. and right now there is huge demand for the nintendo handhelds.  so nintendo is either really terrible at manufacturing or they are intentionally not sending things out. and don't even get me started on the nes classic lol.

One week until launch, anyone picking up a Switch?  I pre-ordered one, hopefully it gets sent on the 3rd, Nintendo is notorious for low initial stock.

Really looking forward to Zelda, it looks fantastic and I'm a huge fan of open world games.  Initial early reviews of it are very positive.

The last Zelda I played was Majora's mask and the last I actually liked was Orcarnia of Time.

This new Zelda, just hate the art style and what appears to be cell shaded graphics.  Not sure if I can get past that; pretty sure my brother will be getting Zelda on his switch.  hope to try it out at some point.

I need to see more about the games for me to consider a switch.  I have a PS4, so with that and my PC I get pretty much all games I want.  the Switch would be only for Nintendo exclusives and they have not been all that appealing to me

What will really have the best chance to sell me a switch, the old schools games.  give me Mario64, super Mario world, Mario RPG, the classic Final Fantasys, chrono trigger, ect and I may just end up with a switch

Due to Nintendo's history of holding back on the initial runs of new hardware to artificially inflate demand, I wouldn't be surprised if half the pre-orders had to wait weeks for theirs.

Yeah, if my bestbuy preorder doesn't ship I'll probably try going to Walmart first thing in the morning.

I actually like the look of Zelda, but I can see why some might not.

That would be a nice change from the big N.
