I haven't had the chance to beta test at all, but I was wondering how the elementalist feels in game. I mained a warlock (destruction mostly) and also played a mage in WoW, and was wondering how they compare to the elementalist. Does the elementalist provide the feeling/ability to blow stuff up like those did? Or are they more supporty than their WoW equivalents. Any incite would be greatly appreciated :)

I don't think you can compare any class to a strict DPS class from WoW since all GW2 classes will have some sort of supportiveness inherently built into them.

That being said, the Elementalist can definitely blow shit up.

I played one in 2 of the beta events and I gotta say that you can do whatever you want with your elementalist just more effectively if you trait certain ways.

Elementalist seems like one of the most active classes to me. Not as far as mobility, though they aren't bad there either. But when I watch pvp vids, skilled players are constantly switching between their attunements. And casting while moving pretty much guarantees that no matter what you're playing it isn't going to feel like wow.

Just my 2 cents.

In terms of what feels similar to a Warlock and Mage, an Elementalist traiting in Fire and Earth may be to your liking. :)

Elementalist is one of my mains in this game and I've played one in every beta event. It is a very active profession in terms of staying on your toes and doing damage, but the Elementalist has a large amount of potential for support as well! I absolutely love the Elementalist. :)

You might also want to look into Necromancer of course if you were mained Warlock. Aesthetically they're closer. Gameplay wise I'm not sure because I never tried one but I've seen some videos that indicate they're very much based off of conditions (basically dots) and pets.

It may not be up his alley since he played a destruction warlock, which isn't so heavily based on conditions. :P

Fire attunement felt very satisfying to me dmg wise and was graphically appealing.  I also enjoyed the flamethrower on my engineer (who also have bombs and such to "blow stuff up"). They are completely different than a caster though, but thought I'd throw that in.

I agree with Amber...

If you want a caster type class, play the Elementalist! :)

If you want to try something other than a caster class, try out the Elementalist :D

I found an appropriate video showing some burst dps the elementalist can put out. I'm sure there is a better one but he's using fire air and sceptor like we were talking about.
