Hows the Thief?

I played as an assassin in guild wars for about 3 years before switching over to a Rit, how does the game play and controls of the thief feel?

I personally am not crazy about it so far, but I haven't had a chance to play more than 4 hours all weekend.  I can't decide if I should play more of it to get a better feel or try another profession to get a better comparison.

its beta, my opinion is to try a little bit of everything, so when you start the actual game on release, you can have the best understanding of what you want to do.

I played a thief to level 12 so far and I have to say I like it. The shadow stepping can be fun and the scaling hits based on target health % can make you a bit of an executioner in pvp. Even getting in and getting back out with the shadow steps leaves a lot to be desired. I feel like if the melee dmg was upped a bit it would make sense, but as of now I just don't see how it's worth the struggle. The ranged options I've tried (guns & shortbow) are ok, but the damage isn't very good.

sounds great, and i got a beta access today and am currently downloading the client, are they gona hav more then just this one beta?

One a month til release. Thief has been great. Melee is fun, you just have to be very active, switch targets, harass a lot.

Theif is fun and fast paced, not very sustainable well at least not with my build. It was more get in there, do damage then leave. Fast :)

I picked up Haste... With dagger/pistol, I could do almost 50% of someone's health in 4 seconds, it was pretty wicked. I definitely see myself playing thief.

I played thief the first BWE and had a blast. It has a learning curve but there are lots of ways to get the job done. I particularly liked my scorpion wire in WvWvW for pulling people into our group. Played a human first go around and will probably try charr next.

I'm playing dual pistols right now. It's amazing single target damage, but I'd like a little more control abilities (stuns, knockbacks)

I like dual pistols alot, but I'm also a fan of dagger/pistol, dagger/dagger and sword dagger. Throw in shortbow too when you need some range.  I change it up alot depending on what I'm doing.

The variety of usable weapon combinations has sold me on the class. Overall it's by far my favourite.
