Of course it looks really boring to you, you play Star Wars, and it's a hard and fast rule on this forum that since you play Star Wars, you have to interject about how stupid Guild Wars looks and how it can't possibly be good.
Well I hope GW2 comes out this year then. That would be good news for Arena.net to release before TOR.
The way SWTOR is looking, I think I'll be going the GW2 route as well. I'm def gonna be playing a tank though... Would prefer a warrior, but I'm not sure if they can. If not, I'll go Guardian. Never played the first one, but this one looks amazing.
So, I was in the BETA and I must say that after I had gotten so far (lvl 40 or so), I actually fell out of love with the game. It was super buggy (and I'm hearing still a lot of bugs), and I just think that GW2 might be better (seeing as no subscription price). What do you all think of the game in its current stage? Is ToR worth playing right now?
@Makani, don't worry about bad mouthing Guild Wars 2. Constructive feedback has never hurt a game. As to whether it will live up to the hype? We shall see but ArenaNet does have something going for it over many other developers. They don't talk about features unless they are 100% sure they can fit it in and that it's working as intended and fun and enjoyable for all involved. They also openly communicate with the community on changes to any aspect of the game (many of the developers have accounts on the Guild Wars 2 Guru forum and will come on when they talk about a new feature to help clear up any confusion). Will peoples expectations not live up to the game itself? Obviously, it happens every MMO no matter how hard developers try to keep player expectation down. But so far every time GW2 has been seen at a game convention it's received praise from everyone on the innovative combat (dodging, changing your characters role to fit the combat situation) and the event system of keeping the world dynamic and different each time you come back to a zone.I'm personally looking forward to trying the game out since Guild Wars 1 is one of my favorite games and one I keep coming back to time and time again.
As for Guild Wars 2... that game is going to be very different from how SWTOR plays. Have to keep in mind that ArenaNet has decided to throw out almost the entire rulebook on how to make an MMO (following the model set down by Everquest, World of Warcraft, and others - tank/healer/dps (holy trinity), static world (quests that don't change your surroundings). GW2 made it so that every class can self-heal, no tanks, and the dynamic event system that can change a zone based on a player's action or inaction.
After looking at the direction where pvp is going and how there won't be any real progression for pvp, there might be a large exodus when GW2 comes out.
GW2 is going to destroy SWTOR. Just because of it's end-game PvP. The Realm vs Realm vs Realm system looks AMAZING, and it's so incredibly complex that SWTOR will simply never get there if they hadn't planned for it in the first place.Which sucks, because SWTOR is pretty awesome. Until 50.
I think the fact that TG has about 20 members logging in at prime time these days when over 70 were logged in regularly only two months ago goes a long ways towards proving that you are correct in your prediction. This leaves aside that fact that populations in TOR have dropped so dramatically that very few guilds will have 8 people for a full team anyways. See you in Guild Wars 2!
Yes I play SWTOR, among many other games. My opinions of Guild Wars 2 are from what I have watched and read about the game. They have nothing to do with my time in SWTOR. I spent 3 hours yesterday watching Guild Wars 2 videos on my second monitor while doing my daily quests in SWTOR. I wasn't impressed.I'm not "Bashing" Guild Wars. I am stating what I have observed in the videos I have watched and stating my opinion on them. It looks like button mashing to me and boring. I will try the game most likely, as I try every game TG does.I'm just trying to bring some people off cloud 9. I just don't want to see them fall off that if this game doesn't live up to their expectations. I've seen so many people put this game on a pedestal without ever getting a hand on it. Hopefully the game lives up to their expectations.
Are there truly crazed people on here being Negative Nancys, Debbie Downers, Trolls, and the like? I'm just a bit confused.
you almost pissed yourself pre-SWTOR launch on a daily basis.
