According to one of the Devs (forgot which one, probably Colin or Mike) in one of their interviews, the  jerseys are merely there for three highly respected team members that left the project to pursue other things. They are there in their honor.

Do I believe this, yes. But I certainly think they have much more significance then that considering we have seen more then one picture of them, the order has changed, and the jerseys have obviously been the intended subject of the pictures.

This is what I love about the human mind. It is capable of perceiving SO many situations given the chance, even though those situations might not necessarily be the real situation that turns out to be reality. But none-the-less, it provides discussion and keeps the mind active. :)
