Big pink Norn.  A snowflake drifted right in front of the "lense" as I took the shot which made it looks like I'm wearing a mask.

Looking contemplative.

I'm a monster! I got turned towards the end and Tagrey dutifully killed me.  He did what had to be done.

That's all I got beside a pic of the Lion in LA.  Kept forgetting to take shots!

Elementalist is alright once you get a staff. Then you can shoot fireballs and have a spell another spell that rain down fireballs and then another special one that allows you to have even more fireballs from the sky if fire is your element so I do enjoy it once you get a staff

You're doing nothing to dispel the stereotype that people who play elementalists are borderline pyromaniacs.

I loved the elementalist.  Between the elements and the weapons, you are about as versatile as you can get.

I hated guardian, going to give warrior a shot next BWE.

I'm not sure his intention was to try to dispel any stereotype. They are just that: Stereotypes. He's just saying he enjoys and thinks the Elementalist is more enjoyable, in his subjectivity, when using the 2-handed staff. Also, versatile may be true in the difference in effects via the elements you can choose from, but that versatility drops when you take into consideration the weapons that you have.

Staffs are, strictly speaking, for long range spells and for utility from a large amount of AoE, which is why fire was probably mentioned seeing as how fire is the element that does the most total damage over a short period of time out of all of the other elements. It is the most abrasively destructive element, and a lot of people see that as most beneficial to themselves.

Using a scepter and focus drops the range that you have by maybe a quarter and gives more defensive self buffs. It can also help to increase smaller area damage, say with dragon's tooth (with the scepter). It also makes you more vulnerable to close ranged fights, but you have more utility.

Using daggers makes slashes the range that you had with the other weapons and makes them much more susceptible to close encounters with the health and defense issues that can become quickly apparent with an Elementalist. It increases your close range targeted damage substantially, but, as mentioned before, it can increase the chances of being downed by enemies.

Along with that, versatility with weapons is hindered seeing that you cannot switch weapons in combat, restricting you to specific range capacities. Depending on how the person is used to playing or is comfortable with playing, different weapons may feel more productive than others. Also, different weapons are more appropriate in different situations or fights.

There are so many variables to take into consideration that it's more complex than just a simple statement of versatility. There are underlying factors that hinder/expand said versatility. It just depends.

There is so much to do in GW2  :o

I had a chance to do a few structured pvp matches which were a blast! I spent at least half of my total play time in open world v world which brought back a lot of DAOC memories.

Crafting is fun, addictive, and will require real time and effort like it was in DAOC. Those that make it to mastery will have certainly earned it, and I am certain there will be a large variety of items and gear recipes that we will discover.

Overall, very impressed with GW2 and see this as a long term game play experience.

 On a side note:

"Along with that, versatility with weapons is hindered seeing that you cannot switch weapons in combat..."

This is not true, as you can swap weapons during combat, they just have a timer as to how often you can swap between your weapons. (You unlock this feature at lvl 7)

We are discussing the Elementalist, not any other class. :) The topic is completely different since the Elementalist is lacking the weapon swap feature.

I only played for a short while on Friday. I started as a thief to see if I liked the class. It was ok, but I still enjoyed my ranger from the first BWE more. I then tried my hand with a Necromancer. Also fun, but did not play very long with him.

I ended up quitting because I was doing what I enjoy to do in MMOs the most, exploring. Then the thought came to me "you will have to do all of this again at game launch and all of your progress and cool stuff that you have come across will be lost to the void." So I jumped out. If there is another BWE I may tinker a little bit witht he couple of classes I havent tried. The game looks good, but I think I am just going to wait until launch to play again. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to have as my main.

I did enjoy watching the videos and viewing the screenshots that have been posted from fellow guildies though. Glad to see so many people enjoying the BWE.

On a side note the Elementalist is horrid.  :P

 :'(

I... I don't know how to take that side note... I feel like my heart just got shattered a tiny tiny tiny bit...  :(

And if my heart shatters, what will be left but black goo? My heart keeps all of the rainbow and flamboyancy properly sifted so that the colors don't blend together... I don't want a black heart. I enjoy the rainbow the way it is...

Ok Ok I will grab the super glue to get those pieces back together.

Actually have yet to try elementalist, but I could not pass up a chance to give you a hard time.  ;)

I can already feel the unease of the colors mixing together... Fabulousness.... Fading... Into... Conformity and lacking individualism... Oh god... I'm... Becoming... an X on the Kinsey Scale....?

Found a Dolphin while exploring the waters around Lions Arch. I immediately checked my list of possible pets when I saw it only to be disappointed. I'm not to bummed because as you can see I'm adventuring with my pet shark. Pure awesome.
