In the video the dungeon armors look the exact same for each race, just stretched or compressed, or changed minutely to fit the body.

I think all armor and all weapons are universal to all races except for the racial armor.  All Legendary weapons would also be universal to all races.  Keep in mind this isn't all the armor or weapons in the game.   I would venture to say this is only about 3% of what is actually in game through just looting mobs and other stuff.  Remember you can use transmutation stones on these to put their skins on higher stat and higher level items.

It is Indeed my understanding that the weapons and armours from crafting have better aesthetics than the drops etc, they have basically equal stats to quest reward and dropped items but better looking to be used as skins etc.

Wheres the Master librarian to answer this one?  Ohh Nightsong come out come out wherever you are..........

All gear at max level has equal stats. Crafting doesn't have better looking gear, just a different set.

Basically...
- doing PvE will reward a certain looking armor
- doing PvP will reward a different looking armor
- doing crafting will reward different looking armor than what would be acquired via PvE and PvP
