Hello Everyone!
« on: May 06, 2012, 09:45:52 PM »
Hello everyone, my name is Tylen. I found my way here from your recruitment post on the Guild Wars 2 Guru forums and am very excited to be here. If my recruitment goes well, I look forward to talking with and getting to know each of you.

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am 21 years old and work at a manufacturing plant here in Seattle, WA. I absolutely love my job, although it's not my dream job. I went to school for a couple years for software development, although did not finish my degree. I'm also planning on moving out of my parents house very soon, which is very exciting.

I love video games, writing, Dungeons and Dragons and programming. I've played numerous MMOs although the only one I experienced much end game in was World of Warcraft. I quit WoW a little over a year ago, in February, and haven't played much of an MMO since. I've been patiently waiting for Guild Wars 2. :P

Thank you all very much for your consideration!

Welcome Vallazar to The Guardians. I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here and good luck on your application.

Also... I noticed you work in Seattle, WA. I'm surprised the anticipation and waiting for Guild Wars 2 hasn't caused you to storm ArenaNet's office in Bellevue, WA demanding to play the game.

Yeah I'm pretty excited for the next BWE as well. I played Guild Wars 2 at PAX last year and the year before and it stole the show for me, and the BWE was everything I wanted it to be.

So far, I think my favorite profession is the Guardian. I played a Paladin in WoW and always loved tanking, although that's not exactly what the Guardian is. I love that in Guild Wars 2 tanking has become more of a tactical, support role. I felt like I was a very proactive defender from what I tried in the BWE, as well as an effective support for my group. I'm going to try other professions in the next BWE because it's very hard for me to pick one. I still want to try the thief more, the warrior and the necromancer.

Welcome. I too am a huge fan of AD&D. Best of luck on the app process.

Yeah I played AD&D with my dad when I was about 12. We played for like 3 years then I didn't play D&D again until 2 years ago, when my friends grew interested in it. Now we play 4th edition, although I am on a break at the moment.

I do not play much anymore because my old D&D crew all moved elsewhere, but I still have the books because I love the art. Great resource for artists and writers.

Yeah, it's definitely a challenge not to knock the walls down trying to play. lol I talked to some of them at PAX and they were extremely cool. I talked to this one lady about Thundercats for 20 minutes, it was awesome. lol

Yeah I always liked the art, although I really don't like the 4th ed. art. Also, yeah. Reading the Dungeon Master's Guide can help immensely with formulating story ideas and stuff.
