Just got it yesterday on steam. I play commando with focus on sentry turret.
Anyone else bought it or is going to?

There are a few Guardians who have it. I am on the verge of trying it...still debating whether to nab it or not.

I have it. Too early to tell how good it is. I think it will get better as I progress further and get more skill points and some good weapons. Right now the early game isn't as fun for me as I had hoped, but then again the early game wasn't very fun during the original.

I had it preordered. Only about an hour in, but so far it's much better than the first one. The writing is more consistently funny, and they really nailed the tech (on PC at least). It both runs smoother and looks better than the original. They clearly cared about the PC version in a way they didn't before.
I've heard it gets better as it goes. The beginning is kinda slow. Which I actually tend to like, because it gives the whole thing a sense of scale, but I could see how it might turn some people off.
I'm already getting some crazy weapons. My first green, 30 minutes into the game, was a pistol with a 68 bullet clip. So that's promising. And looking at the skill trees it looks to me like the different classes have a somewhat wider range of options. Zero, for instance, can snipe or he can basically be the siren from the first game, or he can go full ninja focus entirely on stealth and melee kills.
Also, no goddamn use-to-gain weapon skills so you're free to use whatever sweet weapons you want without feeling like you're crippling yourself for later.
Systemically, it's an improvement in every way over the first game. We'll see if the design etc. hold up, but so far I am very pleased.

Interesting, I found the controls not as good as the first. Especially jumping. It seems awkward there is no fall damage, and getting on top of buildings to explore I ran into a lot of invisible barriers. And sometimes it seemed as though short jumps I would get hung up, and long or high jumps would work when it looked too far/high.
I guess I am also in the minority by liking the weapon proficiency. It basically is replaced with the bad ass points, which are more versatile.
And I must be unlucky on weapons, everything I have received is either terrible accuracy, or super weak.
Oh, and I realise this is nit picky, but I really dislike the skill tree menu. I want to be able to look at all trees at once. Feels consolish on that regard. But again, I'm not far and think it will get better.
The dialogue is good.

I'll be purchasing Borderlands2 here sometime soon.
It's been a pretty busy week at work, and will have a busy weekend coming up....Right now I don't even have enough time as I'd like to play GW2, and adding a second game on top of that will be even worse!

I just played a few more hours. The experience this time was more positive. The jumping thing is still really annoying, but I was having more fun.

Civenge : when your looking at the skill menu, hit "Q". Then you can see all of your skills at once. It is kinda crappy that you only can see one tab.
I personally started siren. I am not sure I like this version now, or the old siren better. She is still fun to play.
I also bought the Steam version and am really looking forward to some online play! Add me!

Ahh, I will try the q trick. Seems dumb not to be that way by default.

I noted that right away too, not sure why they did it like that.
I really dont like how you cannot swim in B2, yeah, you just die.

Yeah, that's weird about hitting Q to get the proper view. I've noticed a couple of little things like that where the interface is more concerned with looking cool than being usable, or where there are useful options that are hard to notice. The inventory screen and marking items as keepers or trash are good examples. I guess I was just impressed that I was both getting a higher framerate AND it looks better.
The siren's ability is more like the sniper's hawk thing from B1. If you liked the PBAoE stuff on her riftwalk, the assassin is actually much closer. Maybe try futzing with him a little and see if that recaptures the feel you're looking for.
I just figured the jumping was floaty and there's no fall damage because the gravity was lower, like the jumping in Halo. It's kinda weird that it's different, since you're on the same planet, but I don't think it's inherently bad.
I didn't mean that my guns were superawesome. I'm still looking for a not-shitty assault rifle, for instance. I just mean that the variance between different weapons seems higher, with a focus on letting some weapons have really interesting unique traits like comically high clip sizes, or assault rifles that fire rockets, or revolvers that fire as fast as you can pull the trigger, and letting those memorable weapons drop early.

yes, I have had some cool drops too, a pistol with explosive damage that has a 40 round clip? shot gun with a 3 round clip... but fires 2 shots at a time ( the double shot killed almost anything that was in from of me). Theres a lot of fun weapons. Sniper rifles are just too easy to get head shots, there fun tho.
tonight I may start an alt already to goof around on.

I seem to notice snipers are much better, and pistols much worse than the first game. No swimming is lame.
