FPS (First Person Shooter) interest?

Hello all!

The year was 2003. The Guardians had been rolling for less than a year and some people's interest in SWG had waned enough that we were looking to other options to keep people interested in the community as a whole and gaming together... and thus the TGPA (The Guardians Players Association) FPS Division was formed. We started out with Halo: Combat Evovled and then rolled into some throw-back that we had played while waiting for SWG... AAO (America's Army Ops), then we rolled into Battlefield 1942. Interest and participation later waned as WoW came out and the Division was folded.

Why do I bring this up? TG has always had a big background interest in FPSs. Is there enough interest in folks to start coordinating some efforts again? I realize the market is pretty saturated and deciding on 1 or 2 titles to start with might be a bit of a challenge, but I figured we could at least initiate the dialogue.

So what say you all? :)

Hey Tor!

Barnaby has gotten our CS:S server back up and running again on steam.  The details are on the left.

I was also thinking of redownloading Monday Night Combat if people were interested in playing it more.  Its 15 bucks or so on steam and is like a FPS/League of Legends type game.  Very interesting :)

I play CoD. I would have to dig out disks if its anything before Black Ops. I have all of them from 4 to black ops and I have BFBC2 also.

I have the earlier CoD titles....Like Call of Duty, and CoD2...Yeah...that early.
I also have Americas Army, Monday Night Combat, and TF2. If any of those come into play then i'm in :)

Love FPS's.  Let me know what you're playing and I'm in if I have it. However, I'm not buying many new titles right now.  My time is sufficiently at a premium that it doesn't make sense to keep buying stuff when I have games unfinished or even unstarted, lol. 

On a small side note, Tor, are you saying that there is precedent for a Guardian Division that is based on something other than a specific title?  That the genre of FPS was the division across multiple titles rather than having to be linked to a specific title?  I hope that is what you are saying, because I've been thinking of something similar and it would be great if there was precedent. Please confirm or deny.

Yes, I saw that and have it installed as well... I just forgot how cumbersome that game is with the purchasing of everything. /rollseyes

Hey intermission, here that?  Multi-game Permadeath division? Hmmm?  :D

Anyway, I don't want to hijack the thread, especially since this is an awesome idea.  I'm totally down for FPS.

Love it!

Anyways, CS:S is imo the best start to getting fps back on the map.  We have a dedicated server filled with bots right now and I'd love some human players to pick off ;)

I would be interested also. I play Battlefield Bad Company 2, if anyone plays that and I reserved SOCOM 4 for PS3 if anyone is going to get that. I'll play whatever though, like CS.
