Stellaris is deep, really deep.  I have to be in the mood to commit time to a game like this.  As far as space based 4X games, I prefer the Endless Space games as they don't have as much micro management and focus more on the exploration and combat.

Wow, I thought the colonies did run themselves. I don't recollect having to micro manage. Sure you can, but you don't have to. Or so I thought.

  If you don't want to micro-manage you can just make it a sector.

Maybe I didn't get that far but I remember it telling me to build individual buildings. It never stated anything about it becoming automated. Heck, I tried at launch and haven't tried since then. I could be thinking of another game. I just know that it bombarded me with a ton of questions then had me go through the micro managing of the empire. I wasn't feeling it.

Maybe when I have the itch again I'll give it another shot, I realize as I get older the games tend to blur together.  :P
