Other Games and Interests / Re: World of Tanks
« on: May 09, 2013, 02:42:40 PM »
I tried during beta, and thought it was interesting, but recently tried it again, and am enjoying it much more.  I like the concept, a pvp that is quick and has no 'silly' returning to fight the same battle over and over if you die.  After you die, you can hang around and watch the battle from the perspective of other tanks on your team, or immediately exit and start a new match.  My name in the game is 'Wooden'.  I saw a Nightsong1 in the game (any relation?).  Anyway, feel free to add me as a friend, perhaps we can platoon or whatever.

I thought I discovered a new game, but searched and found this thread.  Anyone still playing the game?  Just created a Fighter (forget the proper game). I think he's level 4, still hardcore.

I agree with Thadios.  Very interesting, but right now they have lots of software done, that they can only talk about and not really show.  Holding off on better graphics is probably a very good idea in development but it puts off many players.  I'll keep an eye on the site and might someday advance them $20 bucks or so.

I downloaded the game to take a look, but there is no option to invert the mouse.  While I could unlearn years of playing, it would mess up all my other games.  So no Age of Wushu for me.

SW:ToR Operations (Raiding) / Re: Swtor raid group 2 LFM
« on: April 23, 2013, 10:51:00 PM »
I just want to clarify a few things, there seems to be some misunderstandings about my raiding position.

1 - I do want to join a progression group.  Yes, I will be working on other toons, but my progression character, whoever it may be will be my 'main'.

2 - I have been working on Cres mainly because it was a request that I work on a ranged dps for the group.  I do not need to play Cres, I would be very happy to play Tisa.  Cres is a Trooper ranged dps, Tisa is a shadow tank.

3 - Somehow, becaus I am willing to level Cres, it seems that I will not be ready for the progression raid group.  Tisa's gear is between 61 and 66, she is ready.  It only took me about a week, once past 50 to get her so geared.  She could be better geared if I concentrated on her.  Cres is only 51 now, so naturally his gear is not good, but if you still need him to raid, I can have him up to level 61 gear in about a week, certainly level 58 gear by Sunday.  I'll continue to work on Cres until someone lets me know which character you would like me to raid with.

6
I'll have Tisa, a shadow tank to 55 by Saturday.  Would like to join if there is room.

7
I just went to Voss and did 3 Heroics there, besides working on the achievements I got over 10 Planetary Commendations going for upgrading my companions to level 58 mods.  I also got blue Voss reputation items which I need.

8
I'm thinking of getting a group together to work on achievements, any and all of them.  Some possibilities.

Going back to older planets and killing lots of mobs, or hunting down specific mobs.

Just killing things with different companions (probably best combined with other goals).

Going back and doing old Flashpoints.

Social skill/alignment grinding.

World Bosses.

For you PvP'ers, killing players on the various planets, or killing the guards at different enemy outposts.

So for any or all of the above, it's more fun, faster, and sometimes only possible to do them in a group.  If there is enough interest I would like to have a time or two a week where we get together and work on this.

Let me know if you are interested and we'll figure out a time.

We're getting messages to express interest in raiding, but I look over the posts, and am really not sure where to sign up.

First of all, my "main" Tisa is 53 now, not sure when she'll get to 55 and what kind of gear she'll have then.  I assume I'll have more of the Makeb story line to do and that will improve my gear.  I'll also need to do the new HM Flashpoints.

I look at the SWTOR group LF2M and it seems like they have their 2.  Another says HM raid group, and I doubt that I'll be ready for that any time soon. There is a "not in a raid group and want to raid" thread, that has been locked for some reason.

Anyway, Tisa will be my first 55 character, she's a shadow tank.  I am a casual raider, but am flexible as to times.  I would like to be in a scheduled raid one or two times per week.  If I'm on and you need a raider at other times, just ask, and I will probably be available.  I'll also be available for level 50 raids and Flashpoints.

I am not sure which will be my second 55.  Right now I'm working on Cres, he's a 45 Trooper, ranged dps, and we seem to be short of that type, so I may keep with him right to 55.  Oko is my sage healer, currently 50, will probably be my third 55.  Sorry no time estimates on those two.

Star Wars: The Old Republic / Re: SWTOR Weekly Guild Events

The +10 datacron event went ok.  Smoother than the last time I did it, but still many rough spots.  Everyone did get the datacron except one level 49 that couldn't enter after dying, as he couldn't get the blue crystal, and no one else could help as they had the datacron already.  Other problems

1 - a source I read said that typing /stuck would get you back to where the bridge controls were, on the correct side.  It worked for me every time, but others were having problems, often not moving at all.  This will make it difficult to do this with only 4 people, as using /stuck seems to be important in this case.

2 - we couldn't get people pulled into the final area from down below.  Again, sources I have read says this is possible.  We ended up having them use the MGGS to get to the platform above them, then getting pulled.

These problems will make it very hard to do this with just 4 - 6 people.  In the future, we'll need help from guildies that already have the datacrons, to man the various switch spots or bridge controls.

Please be on mumble during the event.  At least to hear.  I'll be giving instructions on mumble which may or may not be typed.  So if you are not on mumble, you will often just stand around until we get to the next stage, then I'll type minimal instructions on what to do to continue.

I hope that after this, enough people will have the knowledge to help form groups of people to go after the +10 datacron.  It only requires 4 people once you know how to do it.  I'll definitely be doing it again as I already have another 50 that will need to do it.

As to the level required, I am reading contradictory information.  I'm pretty sure that you need to be at least 47 or 48 to get it, but even that is no guarantee.  I'm pretty sure that some steps require a level 50 but lower levels may be able to continue on once the step is done.  We'll see.

My first KO.  That is me being knocked out, one step from death.

I got a bit too close to a rattlesnake, then it kept chasing me.  Lost 2 proficiency points and my inventory including two charms I was planning to trade in for silver.  An expensive lesson.

Drim has approved going for the +10 datacron next Saturday.  If you are interested, there are several things you need to do to prepare for it.

1 - You need an MGGS, its a grappling hook thingy.  You get it on Aldaraan.  Google it or ask in game.  You MUST have this item in your inventory before going for the datacron.

2 - You need to get a Corellian Museum Crystal.  You get this on Corellia, again google or ask in game.  While only one in the party needs this item to get the party to progess, if you die during the event, you may need it to get back in and join us.  So get it!

You have almost a week to get these items, so please do.  Don't have the rest of the group waiting for you to get them on Saturday, because if the group is large enough, we may not wait.

I believe you need to be level 47 to get the datacron.  I still need to do homework to make sure I know what to do for the datacron.  I'll post any more info here.

Other Games and Interests / Salem MMO
« on: March 25, 2013, 03:21:16 PM »
I recently found a ftp mmo called Salem.  I think it's a good game to spend an hour or so on a day.

What is it?

- crafting
- exploring
- combat with perma death
- more crafting

I've just been in it a few days, it has a very steep learning curve so barely understand it myself as of yet.  I have yet to have any combat or deaths, although I have discovered, during explorations, destroyed settlements with many skeletons.

Its kinda weird, and NOT an an action game.  Pace is slow.

If anyone takes a look and is interested, my current character is on Jamestown server, but willing to start another character on any server.

Just google "Salem game" to find the game site.  You tube has many videos about it.
