World of Warcraft / Re: I caved..
« on: January 25, 2013, 10:08:52 PM »
TG is attempting to put a raid together, right now it is Wednesday nights, starting at 9 pm EST.  I know they are in need of healers, they may need more positions filled as well.  Maffioso [Malcynn here on the forums] would be the best person to ask about what exactly is needed.

World of Warcraft / Re: Private Servers
« on: January 24, 2013, 03:26:31 PM »
Private servers are illegal, so they aren't really something that TG associates itself with. [It is a direct violation of WoW's End User Agreement and since the servers are sketch can result in increased account hacking, viruses, and can get your WoW account permanently banned]  If you would like to play with us, we play Alliance on Eredar, and could send you a scroll of resurrection if you've played on a real server before.  That would get you a few days of free game time and a transfer to our realm.

World of Warcraft / Vent Member Meeting Notes, 10/29
« on: October 29, 2012, 10:04:32 PM »
Just a recap of tonight's member meeting for those of you who weren't able to come:

1) Forum Activity
-The Guild Leader Election is in full swing, even if you're too shy to ask a question, please stay updated on what other people have asked them and start thinking about how you want to cast your vote.  This is a very important time for TG!
-Please take the time to comment on new recruit's applications after you have had in game experiences with them.  This lets us have a better picture of the member, and allows the guild members who aren't in the WoW division to get a better picture of their new guildmate.
-In the past, the WoW division has been kind of absent on the forums, we would really like to change that.  Please remember you are free to comment on any of the shenanigans going on on the forums.
-Please participate in the Secret Santa event!  It is a guild wide event, and will allow you to make new friendships with people in other divisions.  Stay tuned for more guild wide events as well!
-The class/spec guides will be reposted to the WoW forums over the next few days and will stay up so long as everyone understands the following:  comments are not to be addressed to any one individual, they are to be constructive, and if adding/questioning something in the guide, you either need to have personal experience playing that class/spec at level 90, or have done research.  No speculation or hostility please.  They are meant to be a useful tool to start you on your way, not a bone of contention.

2)Recruitment
-Nov 1-Dec 31 there will be a division wide recruitment drive.  The Guardian member who refers the most friends [must be a personal referral, not trolling in trade] during this time will get a goody bag full of useful things for them.  Maffioso also generously offered to contribute a game time card to this end as well.  You love TG, why shouldn't your friends as well?

3)Raiding Expectations
-A Raid Group is a team, and as such, you need to put in the effort to help that team out, even when it doesn't directly benefit you.  If we schedule time to run Guild Heroics/LFR during normal raid time, you are expected to show up and participate, not make other plans or abandon your Raid members who need help gearing up.
-Please be on time to events, or contact the appropriate person if you are requesting an exception.  If the event starts at 8, that means you must be online and in group before 8.  At 8, we pull, or PUG your spot if necessary. [and we don't like pugging, so please, be on time]
-Please be respectful of people's time during the raid.  When a ten minute break is called, be back and ready to go in ten minutes.  Repeated abuse of such things is rude to your fellow raiders, and won't be tolerated.
-Please know your spec well enough to function in the raid.  I know it has been joked about to death, but don't be like Maff and be in the wrong stance for over an hour, causing time and gold to be wasted.  If you need help, don't be afraid to ask for it before the raid.  There are officers who would love to help you out.

4) We'd love to hear from you!
-If you have any questions about any of the above stuff, or anything else, feel free to ask!  You can do so in the comments below, on Maff's "WoW Update" thread, or personally to any of the officers in the division.
-Have an idea for a guild event?  We'd love to hear about that too!  We want this division to be enjoyable for you, not just full of the same old stuff you may or may not be interested in.  Let 'er rip!  Event suggestions are accepted through the same venues as the questions and comments.

Thanks for your time!

Happy Hunting.

Haha, hopefully it won't take you that long, leveling is a breeze now compared to what it used to be [or so I hear, I'm not an oldtimer]  We look forward to seeing you around!

Paladins / Holy Paladins in 5.0
« on: October 26, 2012, 12:49:37 AM »
TALENTS
Talents were a HUGE change in this patch.  Instead of having more than 30 points to do with as we please, we have 6, and there is no set in stone path for everyone.

The base Healing[like there's any other kind...] spec for Holy Paladins is as follows:
Pursuit of Justice
Fist of Justice
Sacred Shield
Clemency
Holy Avenger
Light's Hammer

Pursuit of Justice, Fist of Justice, and Clemency are utility spells, and can be swapped as needed with other talents in their respective tiers. Sacred Shield, Holy Avenger, and Light's Hammer[I don't use this one...I think it's silly.] improve your healing.

GLYPHS
Glyph of Avenging Wrath-Provides a small survivability boost
Glyph of the Battle Healer-Small passive heal if you melee [this is a really stupid glyph]
Glyph of Divine Plea-Don't use this unless you have ridiculous quantities of haste, 5 seconds feels like FOREVER
Glyph of Divine Protection-Useful for mitigating physical damage
Glyph of Divinity-Emergency mana regen
Glyph of Flash of Light-Good for high damage single target healing [great if you're the tank healer]
Glyph of Illumination-Gives you better mana regen until you get all teh spirit [seriously, we need an obscene amount of spirit now]
Glyph of Light of Dawn-Great for 5-10m healing.  Do not use in 25 man raids.

ROTATION
hehehe you think healers have rotations, that's cute...

Maintain these buffs at all times:
Seal of Insight
Beacon of Light-keep on the tank
Sacred Shield-keep on the tank [requires Talent]
You should also have either Blessing of Kings or Blessing of Might up as well

Other than that,
Holy Shock
Word of Glory
Holy Light
Divine Light
Flash of Light

or for AOE

Holy Prism-requires Talent
Light of Dawn
Holy Radiance
Holy Shock

COOLDOWNS
Cooldowns you can get from talents:
Light's Hammer
Holy Avenger
Holy Prism
Execution Sentence

Other Cooldowns
Avenging Wrath-Use as needed for burst healing
Devotion Aura-Raid wide cooldown
Divine Favor-Provides burst healing
Divine Plea-MANAAAAAAAAS
Divine Protection-Mitigates damage
Divine Shield-Your oh sh*t! button
Guardian of Ancient Kings-Useful for heavy healing periods, or when there is a lot of damage and you are low on mana
Lay on Hands-Major healing cooldown
Hand of Sacrifice-Redirect damage from other players to yourself, you can use this if the incoming damage is too much to handle.  Be careful with this now though, as we don't get passively healed by healing others anymore

STAT PRIORITY

Spirit > Intellect > Mastery > Haste > Crit

Reforge, gem, and enchant to follow this stat priority.  And for serious, Spirit is soooooooooooooooo necessary.  Blizzard hit our mana regen with a nerf bat so hard I can barely see it now.

World of Warcraft / Re: WoW on sale! Get it while it's hot!
« on: October 25, 2012, 06:12:42 PM »
Right now in the evenings around 8ish EST our average is 12-17.  That changes depending on the day of the week a little bit because some people work nights, have date nights, etc, but we've got a lively crew.

Paladins / Prot Paladins in 5.0
« on: October 24, 2012, 03:11:05 PM »
As promised, here is a guide to prot paladins for Mists of Pandaria!

TALENTS
Talents were a HUGE change in this patch.  Instead of having more than 30 points to do with as we please, we have 6, and there is no set in stone path for everyone.

The base Tanking spec for Protection Paladins is as follows:
Pursuit of Justice
Fist of Justice
Sacred Shield
Unbreakable Spirit
Holy Avenger
Execution Sentence

Pursuit of Justice, Fist of Justice, and Unbreakable Spirit are your utility spells, and may be swapped out with other spells in that tier to better facilitate your particular play style and needs. Holy Avenger, Execution Sentence, and Sacred Shield improve your survivability and threat, and therefore are more heavily suggested.

GLYPHS
The Glyph system was also something that was changed dramatically in this patch.  Prime glyphs were done away with.  Major glyphs were changed to make there be consequences of the ones you picked, and lots of new [and fantastically silly] minor glyphs were added. As minor glyphs are entirely up to whatever suits your fancy, I will only post what I would recommend for the major glyphs here.

Glyph of the Alabaster Shield -I really recommend this as a standard glyph for you, it gives you a solid damage [which = threat to a tank] increase in all fights.
Glyph of Consecration -This is an optional/situational glyph.  It has great utility for dealing with a lot of adds.
Glyph of Divine Protection - This is definitely a situational glyph, but one that all tanks should have in their arsenal.  It is good for fights that have mostly physical damage instead of straight magic damage. [Note, this glyph does pretty much the exact OPPOSITE of what it did during Cataclysm, go go Blizzard doing crazy things to us]
Glyph of Final Wrath  - This is an optional glyph, it allows you to push through that execution phase, and allows you to generate extra threat to help compensate for that crazy mage that just decided to pop timewarp in the last clutches of the fight.
Glyph of Focused Shield - This is the opposite of Glyph of Consecration  as it improves your threat when single target tanking
Glyph of Harsh Words  - This gives you slightly more utility when off tanking, and gives you something else to do with your holy power if it is really burning a hole in your pocket [must be pretty hardcore to burn through those plate britches...]

ROTATION

These buffs should be maintained at ALL times
Seal of Truth or Seal of Righteousness
Righteous Fury
Sacred Shield

You should also have either Blessing of Kings or Blessing of Might up as well

Single target rotation
1.Hammer of the Righteous-For single target, this is only used to keep up the Weakened Blows debuff
2.Crusader Strike -use on cooldown, generates holy power
3.Judgement -use on cooldown, generates holy power
4.Shield of the Righteous-uses holy power
5.Avenger's Shield
6.Consecration
7.Hammer of Wrath - use when the target is below 20% health
8.Execution Sentence
9.Holy Wrath

AOE rotation
1.Hammer of the Righteous -generates holy power
2.Judgement -generates holy power
3.Shield of the Righteous-uses holy power
4.Avenger's Shield -use as much as possible
5.Consecration -use as much as possible
6.Hammer of Wrath - use when the target is below 20% health
7.Execution Sentence
8.Holy Wrath

COOLDOWNS
Execution Sentence -Use on cooldown for additional threat [requires Talent]
Holy Avenger-Use this to spam the snot out of Shield of the Righteous for a burst in threat [and survivability! yaaaaay!]
Ardent Defender-Use this before you die...so you don't
Avenging Wrath-Use for a large threat boost
Devotion Aura-Raid wide cooldown, use when healer/raid leader asks
Divine Protection-Use before receiving a large amount of Magic damage [or physical if you use the glyph]
Divine Shield-You can use this to remove DoTs and debuffs, however, you must cancel it immediately, as it drops your aggro.
Guardian of Ancient Kings-Use before receiving a large amount of damage
Lay on Hands-Saves your butt. Big time. Coordinate with healer before using so they don't waste a huge cooldown on you at the same time.
Reckoning-It's a taunt, use it to establish threat on targets not attacking you, like that add over there, inappropriately touching your healer...

STAT PRIORITY
At this point in the game, everyone should be reforging/gemming towards survivability as the gear isn't so great.  Later into the expansion, you can switch to a threat scheme if you prefer.

Survival
Stamina > Parry > Dodge > Mastery > Melee Hit (7.5%) > Haste > Expertise (7.5%)

Threat
Stamina > Melee Hit (7.5%) > Expertise (15%) > Mastery > Haste > Parry > Dodge

That should get you started, I'll come back and give you more information about Gemming, Enchanting, and Reforging later, but if you follow your stat priority, you should be dandy!

Happy Tanking.
