Thanks Enjaku, we'll definitely not be running EV, so we might be able to try some EC Story mode with you. Talk to you tonight.

Making good progress... I can be on tonight!  Psyched to get away from work XXX.

Throughout the course of the fight Zorn will cast a DOT on the tank and melee that reduces their damage dealt

Ah, didn't realize the dot affected dmg though, is the dps getting hit normally ?

Looks like we only need to worry about the tanks when on Zorn. Will Zorn cast the dot on melee though if they are far away from him ?

Most of these strats use the inverted V grouping. I'm beginning to wonder if going back to that, might make more sense. We changed the strat for the spikes, but I'm wondering now that we have a better handle on them if it's as big a deal ?

Also, got a nice BH piece I ripped the mods out of after the last run. More Will, End, and Surge ftw . . . hope it helps a little.

ya i need every one to look at the posts and we need to try something new. I also think the range dps is not keeping up can we fix this? is it the debuff or builds i dont see what is holding up there dps since the melee and range have the same gear. and every post says the melee have the hardest time in this fight.

"there is no reason for a ranged dps to ever get fearful. If you do, you've done something wrong. Hence the reason that you shouldn't have to dps off at all (in fact doing so will likely make you hit enrage at this point of gear progression), just be mindful of the threat drop during leaps. " so dot all you like is that what he is saying?

"Here are my notes from downing Zorn/Toth 8m HM last night after three hours of wiping due to experimentation with different strats. In general we followed the strategy of leave each group where they are and only have the bosses swap, with a few differences. I was one of the sentinels [Reverent] that started on Toth. Our group composition was as follows:

Initially On Toth
2 Sentinels
1 Vanguard
1 Sage [heals]

We had the melee and sage stack, which we positioned on the left side of Toth (the side closest to the cave entrance). Our vanguard tanked him with his back to the wall in the alcove below the handler. I (sentinel) was also put on Guard by the Vanguard. We didn't have any issues having our healers unguarded.

Initially On Zorn
2 Commandos [heals and dps]
1 Sage
1 Guardian

Our ranged DPS/ranged heals stood in a V pattern near the cave side.

Our changes to the strat delineated in the previous posts:
When Zorn was on melee and Toth was about to jump to him (~70%, 30%, 10%), we had the sentinels force leap to Toth. This allowed them to continue DPS, avoid Fearful, and be able to be cleansed by the sage and commando in the ranged group if they got the stacking debuff. This help with cleanse took considerable pressure off our Sage healer. Additionally, we noticed that melee occasionally would not get the stacking debuff at all when leaping to Toth. Once Toth jumped to Zorn, melee just ran back in. We (melee) also ran to the bosses right after they jumped together and DPS'd the boss with lower health while running back to the boss that the Vanguard was currently on.

Some issues with this strat:
When the bosses were about 55-65% health each time, Toth would frequently be 6-9% lower on health than Zorn. This could be due to our Sage DPS being low (he didn't die until the last 3 seconds of the fight) and not just the sentinels leaping. We mitigated this by monitoring the health percentages and having a sentinel jump to Zorn occasionally to even out the DPS. It didn't really affect our DPS too much for melee, both of us were right around 1100 still.

We downed Toth first with Zorn at about 5%, and killed Zorn right as we hit the 5 minute enrage mark. To OP: Enrage is 5:00 not 4:30. I have some more comments and thoughts which I will add later once I remember what they were Rolleyes

If you want to see our MrRobot log for this fight, everyone but our sage healer is merged (and he will be tonight) and you can check it out here: http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/combatlog/9b...9#d=0,f=28

I'd love to hear any comments/feedback if you guys have some."

"Burning down the bosses too fast can result in some nasty situations. Too much dps can force Tank/Boss swaps before Fearful has worn off from the tank, or before the berserk had worn off, or before Zorn's Force Scream has finished channeling. I know I was stuck in Zorn's Force Scream for about 30 seconds, because my Resolute/CC break (2 min cooldown) was still not up when I tanked him during that phase for the second time.

While we could do a simple hardstop on DPS, we found things went a lot more smoothly if/when we had our dps go through the fight with endurance stims, instead of their normal stims. "

Sounds like mabe w are melee dps to fast?

I'm assuming it depends on the ranged dps. I have no idea what range folks need to be in. >30m seems to be the rule of thumb to absolutely avoid the fearful debuff.

DPS avoiding dots is probably a 'just in case' kind of thing. I'm not sure if they are actually avoiding them or not.

I know running with the yellow circle sometimes gets a raid member hit by fearful. And no offense to the tanks there is a lot going on, but I have to constantly readjust myself distance wise in terms of healing. It's not always easy to position the bosses. If one of the tanks brings a mob too close and the dps didn't notice, they'll get hit.

The thing that usually gets me in the end is the stacking debuff. By the time I get it off the tank, I need to heal them to top off before the transition or they won't make it across. In the mean time, mine dwindles and Altas has to stop what he's doing to make sure I don't die. I'll see about trying to get more range, but I'm pretty sure it's unavoidable.

Wow, Drim posts two more times before I could post this. I've seen a lot of those strats/comments/etc too. None of them seem to mention the eureka moment of tank dots that may occur thereby making them go splat

Did you guys attack it again last Wednesday?

Also thanks Drim for the link to the Sharpshooter tree build video. Still having to get the hang of it all, but I am digging it so far.
