Looking to build my own PC

(1/5) > >>

Soleil:
Hello fellow Guardians. :)  I am looking to build my own PC.  This will be my first build ever!  I was hoping you guys could help me out selecting components that allow me to stay in budget as well as get the best bang for my buck.  I did look over other related threads but decided to make my own since technology changes quickly.

I'm looking to spend about $600-$800.  It doesn't have to be the top of the line, and it won't be with that budget (LOL), but I would like it to last me a few years.  I'm highly interested in using an SSD.  My goal is to eventually use a 32"-40" TV for a monitor.  My little 19" monitor just ain't doing it for me! I just bought and installed a Saphire HD 7750 GPU for my current PC so if I could use it until I can save more money for something better that's alright with me.

I'm so excited to be doing this!  Thanks for reading. :)

Ibioc:
Do you have anything available to use in this build already other than the video card?  (case, power supply, keyboard, mouse)  Is the cost of the 40 TV included in the budget?

I'm happy to check out newegg and let you know what I would do.

Soleil:
Sorry about that.  I should had mentioned that the cost of peripherals is not part of my budget.  I have a keyboard, mouse, and the dinky monitor will be fine until I get the TV.  I might give my mom my current PC so there isn't really anything to salvage from it.

ETA: I'm going to have to buy Windows 7 for this as well.  Dang, I think I'm going to have to find some junk to sell LOL.

I do think tom's hardware system builds are a good place to start. Can give you an idea of what is out there. If you already have video card then 800$ should get you a good machine. I would say start with an i5 CPU and 8GB memory. Cases should be cheap.

When I built my PC this site really helped me. Being able to see the items grouped together and the price range they fit into was helpful. I built my Rig from his suggestions. My case, CPU, MB, GPU, and various fans are all from his suggestions and they work well together.
