New Intel Ivy Bridge E delay
« on: July 01, 2012, 12:02:52 AM »
So I have be saving up for a new computer for some time now and was thinking about getting the i7 3820. Then I was thinking about the waiting for ivy bridge version, but then I was reading that Intel pushed back the new processor till the end of next year. and now I'm a sad panda. :(

But this means that when I get the hardware soon the next greatest thing won't come out for a while.
Unless AMD comes out with a new processor that's good. (Because Bulldozer sucks)

I just put this in my PC and it runs great! Scored an Editors Choice in PC Gamer as well. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2373004&sku=I69-3570K

Also, with the exception of massive Video Editing, it beat out the 3770k in all tests.

I should add to my last post, that the beating the 3770k in benchmarks had more to do with the Sandy Bridge of the i7 vs the Ivy Bridge of the i5. Ivy Bridge i7s are going to blow it out of the water.

The 3770k IS the i7 ivy bridge

You are absolutely correct. I went back and read the benchmarking article I was referring to in PC Gamer and there are a slew of typos and misinformation. I apologize for repeating it here without further research. They claim in the article that it is a Sandy Bridge chip, which I took to be truth. It is, in fact, an Ivy Bridge Chip. The i5 3570k is just a better value for the money unless you're doing heavy number crunching.

The 3770k is only 330... that's gravy for how much processor that is, I wouldn't recommend dropping 4 cores to save 75 bucks.
