Title: [Side Quest] Starbound Launch Day

1.0? Release? Completed?  Oh early access, what a wishy-washy world you've created.  Whatever you want to call it, tomorrow is it for Starbound, so lets get together and play on a fresh new server.  Hop on TeamSpeak, connect to the server (thranx.com) and have a fantastic time with your fellow Guardians.  Haven't played it? Awesome, please join, you'll learn with many of us.  Have the first 5 tiers of progression tool material quantities memorized?  You're crazy... but come anyways,  we could use that knowledge.  It's a large time window, pop in for any or all of it, and if you can't hang out that night, join any time in the following days.

Just have a fun evening with fellow Guardians and if you enjoy it, continue on into the following days and weeks.  The server will be up as long as people are interested.

Oh and I assume we aren't doing Casual... so Survival or Hardcore? I suspect Survival, because we're carebears at heart :torynn:

btw, if the unstable is anything to go by, and you are doing survival mode. make sure to start planting food as soon as you get a hoe made. Hunger is back in the game and killed me a few times deep in the mines. Also food decays now, so far i've found rice and wheat dont until you make them into something, so those are good ones to stock up on and keep in a regular storage box. or you can keep your stuff in a fridge and its supposed to act as a pause button on the decaying of your food.

oh, and if you farm on your ship (which expands in size as you progress through the story line) plants will grow while you are on a planet. If you farm on a planet though you have to be on said planet for the plants to grow.

Cooooooool.  I'll probably set it up as survival (not hardcore) with the setting ticked so that new spawns are always on the same planet.  That way we're together to start.

Not sure if enjoy...That's alright, It'll just be a race to try and get off the dang planet and away from you uncultured swine!

Thankfully if we work together and are mindful of others (don't cut down all the trees without replanting) the planet should have enough resources for all of us. But Dak has a point, it will be a race to get away so that we can farm to our hearts content.  :P

I try leaving flags at the spawn points of planets that I have visited but I am lazy and usually run around the surface and collect what I can see... rarely dig down deep... I'm shallow like that ;D

Obviously this should wait until we see the type of galaxy we get, but I would love to come back to the starter planet and colonize it. I am a little fuzzy on how the teleporter and bookmarking works but this would allow us to tele back to the starter planet at will to help new players. Worst part of getting to a game late is how far ahead everyone can get, this simple solution would allow us to go spelunking with the newbies with ease... just a passing thought.

They hid the higher end metals deeper this time around and core fragments (needed) can only be found near the core of a planet. no more running the surface and planet hopping. i usually plop like 5 or 6 torches right next to each other at the planets zone-in.

The teleporter and bookmark system is awesome now. basically when someone can make a teleport plop one down on the start planet and name it "start planet".

Tungsten is the new "need" metal early on. on a new toon i started i still havent found it on the starter planet. not sure it's on the first one, but its needed for a lot of the early on crafted stuff (fridge). and without tungsten the first boss isn't impossible, but is crazy hard to run solo (I've died 3 times and have yet to beat it). bring a giant pile of bandages and be fully fed (if you are over fed you get a slow but constant 'heal' effect for a good bit of time).

Trying to log in, but a couple things could be hindering my efforts.

- It now asks for a "server account" when logging in. not sure what to do with that. (tried a few options, none worked)

- TS no longer has a password, and if the starbound password is the same, there are two older passwords it could be. (tried both passwords)

- server might not be up yet, and that's why nothing is working  :evil:

live isn't rolled out yet. 1PM EST is what the SB blog states (I converted to EST).

EDIT: I saw the patch as well and tested... "Beta" is still in the bar.. could be an oversight, but I think they would change that if it was Live.

yeah, i was just noticing the differences that hadn't been updated when i made another toon. got confused since there was a patch to download this morning.

Fragments could definitely be an issue.  I'll probably go 1/3 of the way around the planet before I do a deep dig, just to space things out on the starter planet.

Still hasn't updated for me (but to be fair its still 12 min before release).

I'll probably stick close together with the others that start at the same time, team work will make it much faster :)

I'm in!!! Core fragments shouldn't be a problem theres tons of them. If it gets iffy we can always gather a bunch from non-starter planets and dump em in a box on the starter world.

I got boned on my character last night, let my son play and he used my character, died, then sold my best weapon. Sooo, started a new character and let him have my old one.

It's just like when I was a kid and my brother would delete my save file...

Didn't have any time to play yesterday, likely won't much today, but I should be back on the horse tomorrow.  :)

I'm PMing Dak and Meridian with a way for them to remotely update the server should there be a patch I miss.  Hit me on steam if there's an update and the server is out of date.  If I don't respond, Dak or Meridian can do it.

For anyone that can, can't access the server. I get an error, screen shot provided. I made sure I was updated with the patch.

Yea, it's not prompting for steam guard.  I should using a second account for this that doesn't have steam guard.
