Husband (Rorhall) and I (Q'anora), going on a much deserved long awaited vacatinon to the upper pennisula (yeah), we have gone a few times with little children, this is the first time WITHOUT them (yeah again).
There is incredible beauty up here on the Great Lakes (and the chill in the air has already tendered Michigan so I imagine its going to be a bit nippy at night in the U.P.
Anways including shipwreck boat tours, pictured rocks, lighthouse and museums and some art fairs we will be remembering this shipwreck
I was 17 when it happened, I'll never forget the sadness that struck Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio *Great Lakes people, when this ship was lost. I know it probably wasn't a big thing elsewhere, but it was a tragedy, as so many of us have people who are connected or work for coast guard, shipping industry and commerce.
Everyone knows someone who knows someone, and when then ship went down and the men were lost, it was kinda like the Titanic.
Anyways, saying a prayer for the families and friends of lost mariners, going to see some beautiful sunsets, COLD Superior water, Mackinaw Bridge, and the most beautiful green country God gave man.
We'll be back in a week or so, I hope everyone has had a nice summer, and got a little vacation time with their loved ones.
