Of the ones listed and that I've looked into thus far, the Griffin, Marauder, and Cataphract I believe will be part of my main lance. But who knows. I'll need to try different ones.
Gotta catch em all!

Thought exercise time!

As of late, I've been on a BT lore and TT kick, learning about the game, history, the various factions, etc. I don't believe any of the five main houses are my gig, so I'm defaulting to Mercenaries. Thankfully, the new HBS game sets you up as a Mercenary squad. Assuming you get the choice to name your merry band:

  • What you name your group/lance/company?
  • If you've played the tabletop game, what names have you used in the past?

My hope is that for the 1v1 skirmish game, that it catches on as a fun game to not only watch played but gather guilds together to play in tourneys together. Not sure how much that will be fleshed out in this game, but one can dream. We could always coordinate tourneys if there's not exactly official support set up. Tools like Challonge seem to be able to make that happen, but I haven't deep dived into that app yet.

Kickstarter update: Backer Beta delayed

Looks like it'll be a late summer/early fall release at earliest.

Some things of note that I learned from today's Q&A:

  • Counting variants of chassis announced, there are 50 'Mechs in total to choose from.
  • Single player campaign is linear. Shadow of Mordor was mentioned in regards to choices of taking on missions.
  • Your Argo dropship will have an inventory of all the scrap metal and parts you liberate from the battlefield. This may have been obvious, but hearing it made me giddy for some reason.
  • You can customize your own emblem for your merc 'Mechs (various symbols and colors you'd imagine). Additionally paint schemes are quite customizable.
  • Buildings are blow-up-able, but not terrain
  • Certain telecommunications companies may be interested in your line of work. Nothing but good will come from this. Ulterior motives? Of course not.  :torynn:
  • Water will effect heat dissipation. Come on in, the water's fine!

BIG NEWS.

Beta drops on June 1st.

And HBS is partnering with Paradox Interactive to ensure a satisfactory landing internationally. HBS, however, retains complete creative control over the game.

How's about a new gameplay video?

Oh, and a trailer.

June 1st Backer Beta will only just be single player skirmish due to connectivity issues. Multi coming soon after.

That's a shame, but I'll survive because I'll finally be DEATH FROM ABOVE-ing again.

Single Player Skirmish is now available to Backers with Beta access! Check your emails for an invite from Backerkit.

Since I'm not one of those (MECKJOCK level), I at least can take a gander at this new manual and dream about playing.

It's a troll move, knowing HBS is in the middle of a beta, headed by Weisman himself. Simultaneously, this is on the eve of release for a Robotech movie next year-ish, which Harmony Gold is producing. It will likely be thrown out because stupid.

New Kickstarter update up. They've pushed back the launch window to early 2018, BUT things are going swimmingly. Very positive things in this update. Check it out.

I'm very excited to hear how well things are going. With all the testing, this game is looking to have a very good launch. I'm also excited to see BT tabletop get a resurgence of player interest when this thing drops.

Already at Gencon this coming weekend, they'll be unveiling a new Beginner's Box Set and another box set called "A Game of Armored Combat" which lines up with the previous intro boxes it's been known for.

The latest book to also release, which I have the PDF for so far is the BattleMech Manual. It's not a new edition, but a rewrite of all mech rules. Vehicles and other ancillary stuff has been stripped out.

Wait, how can they do a legal Kickstarter if there's a lawsuit? I'm afraid of spending money on something that might be tied up legally for years, or get shut down.

EDIT: I think you meant a new Kickstarter UPDATE?
