The more I read the more I am excited.  Of any of the games I have pledged/kickstarted this one speaks to me the most.  I am really thinking of doing at least the $100 pledge.

Me too, Scootz. I love the PVE focus, the character interdependancy, all the classes. I LOVE EQ and Vanguard, so fingers crossed it's similar to that. I'm at the $150 package right now, but going to upgrade to the Champion tier soon.

Is Pantheon by Brad McQuiad?

EDIT: It is, nice if it makes it to launch and he doesn't go crazy before launch I may buy in :P

Anyone find out if it was true that he just pocketed the crowd funding money? I think he was accused of taking 33-45% of the pot and just paying it to himself.

When the original Kickstarter failed, Brad started taking donations on the Pantheon website.  I think they made about 150k in funding off of the Pantheon website. Then Brad for some strange reason said he needed a 3 month salary in the tune of 45k from Pantheon's own funding campaign, to alleviate personal affairs.

To make matters worse non of his staff got paid a dime, so when they all saw him take 45K for personal reasons they were all pissed off and every single one of them quit in protest. That was the first dev team.

Then Brad hired a religious nut to run the game and that turned into a disaster.

The game looked like it was going nowhere but then a miracle happend, he got some angel investors in the tune of millions,  and he hired some of the ex-SOE staff to take over the game. He even hired a new CEO to take over the game and look after the money.

Oh nice. Thanks for the quick description of all the events!

I'll keep an eye on this one. Brad makes some really nice games, but you never really know with him until there's something final in your hands :/

IMO I wish he never let SOE buy Sigil, they had an excellent product that just got thrown under the bus :(

I really hope this game sees launch because he's a great designer but I just don't trust him.  I'd probably donate to the kickstarter except for his 'sorted past'.  I'll be keeping an eye on this tho and likely play if it makes it through development.

Pantheon got another round of funding, so Brad is using it to hire more Devs. You can read about the new devs here :

I am a bit sad that they won't have testing until fall/winter 2016. Hopefully they will release more videos and info for us to chew on till then. =D

SOE is what kept Vanguard alive after Microsoft pulled out of the deal.  They kinda saved his bacon, so to speak.  It had a very rocky start.  Beta near 'launch' they were still completely redoing the starting areas and adding new ones and new races.  It was pretty messy, from what I recall. To this day, I believe that if they'd started with less races and focused on fine tuning what they had at the time, it would have worked out  much better.  Diplomacy was like a last minute add as well.  That being said, I really liked the game and was sad when SOE finally sunsetted it. :(  Had some of the best 'vistas' you'd ever seen in a game due to the nozone stuff.  NB: I did NOT like the corpse runs tho ;p

Corpse runs make for great mmos though.  And typically you'll have some way to get a corpse back via a special skill at least one class has.  Bring back the Mmo that is more focused on a challenging but fair game play that is more about the leveling process and social(grouping) aspects like Everquest was, in the beginning.  Give me classes that don't completely overlap,  races that actually have racial bonuses that matter and no instant gratification please.

I really just want EQ1 game with modern graphics.   Same classes,  same tradeskills,  but new items and new zone layouts.   Same everything else.   And I mean EQ no later than planes of power Era,  maybe pre Shadows of Luclin.

Til then,  I play P1999.

Oh and don't turn it into current EQ,  like ever. I think rolling a class to max level should be rewarding in of itself, and combined with some raiding,  keep you busy for a few hundred hours per character.   If you want more content don't increase the level cap,  make me want to roll a new class because they are interesting and different. Adding more level cap/Aa's are a bad way to keep a game interesting,  open up gear progression(maybe) or something else but higher levels is a cycle that ruins the experience.  Gear checks can be fine in a way,  if implemented reasonably.

Sorry rant off.

Yeah, I'm keeping my eye on this one...I'm really hoping it turns out great. My only issue is having to dedicated $100 off the bat it, just feels really steep. Especially since you never know how these things are actually going to turn out.

So, anyone know what our numbers are looking like for this? With the new job I'm seriously considering at the very least getting the first package if we're getting enough members together to try to push for at least a squad? Anyone who's around more and knows the pulse of the guardians have any ideas?

Its early to tell, but I've pledged $150 or was it $200? Either way, I'm hopefully in like Flynn if things keep going well. The community is great so we will definitely be able to find good folks to play with.
