Hey all,

CitizenCon is this week, Wednesday Oct 10, marking six years that we've been at this thing.

The livestream, despite prior announcements, is completely free to watch, but only through embedded Vimeo on the RSI site, requiring you to login.

I've set up a temporary #citcon channel in Discord > Star Citizen for those watching along or want to discuss things as they watch throughout the week when they get to it. Should be some fun stuff, so join for the laughs, cringes, and awesome reveals that CitCon usually provides. It should be the biggest presentation they've ever done, given that they took a rest from their GDC presentation this year.

Star Citizen / Crusader Industries Mercury Star Runner

This past Friday the Mercury was officially revealed for concept sale.

Starting on Wednesday, the lore post On the Run featured a rather good story of Not-Han and Not-Chewy in their Millennium Falcon Belligerent Duck.

The concept reveal page called Join The Manhunt features a now daily game where you search the ARK Starmap for the ship's current location. Once you punch in the coords into the page, you get the option of either alerting the Advocacy or warning the pair to get out of Dodge.

Doing either earns you a badge. I think doing it your preferred side will grant more points to the slider (which is supposed to be working but rarely displays right). Doing either will unlock the Duck skin to your hangar, which is pretty cool. I assume they are their fate to the players in this fashion. It will also unlock either a Advocacy or "smuggling" skin in the final tally. If you are a completest, vote on the opposite side at least once to get both titles added to your account.

Based on a message (shown below), our Discord server appears to have gone down, albeit temporarily. This is the first time I've seen this happen. Will update this thread if/when it's back up.

When this will happen:
Wednesday, April 25th June 6th at 6pm Pacific time. Come join in! Promptness ensures you'll get a match up, otherwise, you may just need to wait for another opening if you have to come late. Hoping we can get even numbers!

What we'll be doing:
Playing the Skirmish Mode in friendly competition. We might do a tourney setup, depending on interest and depending on who shows. Otherwise, we can hold off on that until later when we have a better feel for the game.

Unless you picked up the game through the original Kickstarter or pre-ordered it, you've got one day to get some practice in before going head-to-head with fellow Guardians!

We all have callings we hold to and identify with.
But one unites us all; that of the Guardian!

Heed the call each and (nearly) every Monday @ 6pm Pacific.


Prepare for participation in any or all of the following:

  • Arena Commander - A spacecraft simulation with multiple modes including fending off swarms of 'duul and pirates, dog-fighting opposing players, or challenging them on the race track.
  • Star Marine - A battlefield where marines fend off enemies from control points or one vs all in elimination.
  • Universe - Take your first steps into the greater 'verse, setting foot on moons of the Stanton system, exploring the farthest reaches of known space, tand taking on missions and eliminating threats against the UEE.
  • Tactics and controls - New to Star Citizen? We're all still learning too. Let's collectively help each other out. Officers and members alike will be available in Discord to answer all manner of questions.

How?
  • Let us know you're planning to attend in a reply below or on the #starcitizen Discord channel, including your RSI handle if your name is not listed below.
  • Ensure you've downloaded the latest live patch for the SC client.

The Repopulation / 2018 Development Roadmap and Community Surveys

What? This game isn't dead?

Doesn't quite look like it, at least development wise. There's still chatter on their Discord and from the looks of things for systems being implemented this year, a lot is going to be patched in.

Here's the roadmap.

Highlights that I've taken from it:

Combat Targeting System
• Cleaned up targeting added
• New Auto target
• New/fixed auto face option

New Tutorial Island Terrain
• New Tutorial Island terrain and basic layout using old content
• Additional areas in the world will be added as we develop/build with additional updates
• New content will be added to island as new systems are updated

Astronomy System
• There are currently several Astronomy systems in place. We will be rebuilding a single system and optimizing it so it runs better and no duplicate information is being called.
• Fix player out of sync with each other
• Fix player out of sync with the server
• Fix astronomy based spawns

Harvesting
• Ongoing process until all related systems are linked and working
• New Harvesting Models
• New Harvesting Methods added
• Build New optimized harvesting system
• New Harvesting UI
• Updated Survey system

Horticulture
• This will be an ongoing process until all areas related are connected.
• New farming and horticulture system based on the Harvesting


Factions
• Unified faction system that includes Nations, NPC’s and players
• Will develop primary and second factions for players
• New UI/UX panel, factions will be visible to players

NPC System
• New NPC system, to unify and optimize based on the Race Spec system
• Will be ongoing in stages

• NPC replacement as we progress through content

Updated Guild System

• New GM tools for Guild assistance

Crafting Basics
• Ongoing process, which will require extra attention and testing through several phases

• Optimize crafting skills and abilities

• Remove redundant recipes (such as fake Blueprints for housing items)

Housing Revamp
• This will be continued development as we develop additional feature and test them. Ongoing process

So, regardless of our feelings on the past few years' developments, it's still hanging on for good or ill. Filed under "nice to have" but certainly not counting on it to be a big hit by any stretch. Would be funny though that this and WoW Classic were big winners for us though a year or two from now. Full circle.
