The Expanse
« on: September 28, 2016, 11:32:58 PM »
Just FYI,

If you're looking for a Sci-Fi show that has Star Citizen feel, check out "The Expanse" on SyFy.  To me if feels like a cross between Star Citizen and Blade Runner.   It's based on a set of books I never read written by pen name James S.A. Corey.  Season Two will air next year.

You can find the show on Netflix DVD or Amazon/iTunes.

Highly recommended.

The best new show of last year. Space travel with actual physics, which never seems to happen. Super excited for season 2!

I've read all the books, they're great, well worth the read. The show I thought was ok, didn't care for the casting choices with the exception of Avisarala, the characters just felt off compared to the books.

This is why I have but haven't read the Game of Thrones books.  I'm waiting until the end of the series before I start.

Our minds always paint a better picture than the screen.

I remember seeing the books for the first time on the shelf a few years ago. In the sci-fi section, the graphic design really makes them stick out from the rest of the noise and sameness. I had no idea it was the series in which The Expanse was based on until the recent reprints have the series logo slapped on the front covers.

I'm not entirely sure I'd get to the books but I'll give the TV series a try if I get time.

I read all the books just after I saw the first trailer. Show was good enough for me!

As soon as I saw SYFY was going to start making sci-fi again instead of a gut pile of sharky movies I got all happy. I have basically seen every science fiction show or movie I had cared to see, and I just kept setting the bar lower and lower. Space ships? I'm watching it. CW show? Sure, why not.

I was so hard up for scifi, I almost started watching Babylon 5. Not that there is anything wrong with Babylon 5...

For whatever its worth shows got my scifi stamp of approval. It's not up to BSG quality but it is among the best since.

There isn't anything bad about it, but man is it hard to go back and watch older scifi sometimes with the advancements in effects and CGI and the like now.

Well, I guess I'm getting into the books soon. Because SYFY went and bungled something nice AGAIN. Netflix really needs to pick this show up. Pronto.

CANCELLED. :(

Well it looks like Season 2 will be it for TV.  They cancelled it so no season 3.  I guess I will have to read the books now to see where it goes.

You mean no Season 4, but thats not assured yet. Syfy wasn't the production company, the production company is Alcon and is apparently in talks with Amazon to pick it up.

Having read all 7 books, you guys are going to be blown away by the events in the end of Season 3.
Spoiler  :
I'm dissapointed with not getting a chance to see Miller come back.
