Best Weapon and Armor Sets
« on: March 27, 2016, 12:31:08 PM »
Has anyone done the research of what is the best weapons and armor set for wizard/witch?

I would imagine there is a best for PvP and another for PvE.  I really care more about PvP.

Currently with the gear we have in game atm, the Agerian set is the best for witch/wizard. You are going to also want to get the Yuria staff along with the steel dagger for off hand. The belt is up to you depending on if you prefer a bit more DP or AP. I have a Bares belt for AP. You also want to either get 2 Witch Earrings or do the hourly quests for the earrings that have the same AP as Witch earrings. The Bares necklace is a good AP necklace. Also Marks of Shadow are what you want for rings. They are a bit expensive, so you can do quests from the jeweler in calpheon that will get you rings until you get marks of shadow.

With all this my AP is 111, and I still haven't completely upgraded my off hand. You can upgrade your Yuria staff in Keplan that will add on either +crit, +accuracy or +cast speed. I prefer cast speed. But that comes down to what you want.

I don't like guides, but I try to determine their reasoning as to why they are using certain sets. I understand the reasoning behind Agerian, it is for the cast and attack animation speed.

What I was trying to figure out was why they recommended Steel Taritas Armor in a lot of guides. Upon further investigation that armor set had a dps bonus through increased mana pool and increased accuracy for hitting higher levels and peopel specced in evasion.

Since I am going to be fighting people in pvp that are higher level than me this seemed like a logical route to go. I also realized that the majority of time I will be pvping cast time and attack speed do not matter because I open with a spell that makes everything instant cast for 20 seconds. Also, since switching from Agerian to Taritas I reallydidnt  notice the decreased attack speed and casting time, it feels very minimal. That being said my spec has minimal casts.

What I am rocking now is 3pc steel taritias with a Zereth helmet for the specific reason I am stacking knock-down resistance. I am building an anti wizard spec for sieges and I want my acc high so I can hit everyone when I aoe. I also get increased dp with the Steel set compared to the agerian.

I also have three daggers. I have an acc dagger, a evasion dagger and AP dagger. These are based on the types of fights I will be in. AP dagger for mass pvp, evasion for small scale, and Acc for PVE or if I am missing a lot in pvp.

Regarding weapons and accessories, I have the witch earring, a dim earing im going to upgrade (quests), a dim necklace im going to upgrade (quests), one of those pri 1 box rings and the Yuria staff.

For the end game staff you want a liverto, but unless you are rich that isnt going to happen any time soon. Also keep in mind there will be a patch out within 3 months that has new armor with 2 crystal slots, and everyone will be changing over to that.

Please keep us up to date on how it works. Honestly, I'm really really bad at crunching numbers for this sort of thing. I do what everyone else is doing because I figures someone somewhere crunched some numbers. But, if your set works I really want to know about it.

Booms,

Thanks for the information.  I'm extremely low level at this point, but it's good to at least know what to start thinking about and aiming for.  Also I think your point about guides is well made...they do serve a purpose, but it isn't just numbers alone, it's also someone's opinions.  And I don't really want to play a game with my character completely scripted out by a guide.

With Grunil out for a while now what sets are you guys running?

I'm currently running 3 fortuna and agerian gloves as my grinding set (+5 luck, +5 casting, +5 movement, and +4 crit with gems).

I also have the other Agerian pieces around +3 or so from earlier leveling.  Should I scrap those and start making the Grunil set for PVP?

running full grunil.

with the DP it has and the AP set bonus, coupled with the 2 slots for crystals, I think it is best until you get your boss drop armors.

I have been trying and theory crafting ideas for a while and changed a couple of things.

First of all, accuracy is pointless once you get 55, unless you are fighting something or someone over 3-4 levels above you. Even then, if you have a liverto or better, the accuracy bonus on the weapons is so big you don't really need acc on anything else (imo). This may change when people start hitting lvl 60 soon. If you are fighting an evasion specc lvl 60 you may not be able to hit them without high end acc gear but at this point I don't care about that.

Second, Grunil is the best suit for most classes due to its versatility. The drawback is crystals get very expensive if you are pvping/dying a lot. It is also a crazy pain in the ass to repair the durability. As someone who extremely hates the conversation mini games, I am never doing it for Grunil. If you arent doing the Amity grind repairing durability is crazy expensive (300k-400k per item). Personally when I start making my Grunil (which will be very soon) I am making it all. I have been saving up black crystals for this as well.

Third, and this is a personal opinion for me, movement speed and casting speed are the most important things as a Wizard. We are significantly slower than any other class in the game and far as mobility. Crit I don't really care about because my liverto and food give me enough.

Based on my experience I am changing my gear now, but in essence, I think it is best to have a couple of sets and specs depending on what you are doing.

Currently I have 3pc Taritas (crafted) and a Zereth helmet for knockback resists. Now that I have realized acc is pointless I am switching to zereth boots as well, which will give me an additional +400 health. This is mainly for pirate grinding so that jackass crazy jack doesnt one shot me at night. It also is good in small scale pvp when a sorc is trying to focus you.

I am also thinking of switching the Zereth 2pc out for the set that gives +3 mobility instead, but I am still on the fence in regards to that.

I am also considering swapping out my 2 pc Zereth for 2pc grunil for the extra crtsal slots, that will probably be my final spec for a while.

As far as everything else. I am aiming for a tree belt (have bares pri atm). Using witch earring, quest earring, mark of shadow (pri), blue coral ring (pri). Also hoping to get an orge ring one of these days, current have duo bares.

Sitting around 133ap/175dp, hoping with my jewelry upgrades I can push up to 140-150ap which is what most high end wizards are sitting at these days.

Also just a note for those upgrading to yellow, I can't stress how important it is to have your city node leveled. I know people who have used 50+ t3 stones to upgrade one item, in calp having a t6 node and yellow luck human, I have never used more than 5 stones (per item) to upgrade 5 items to yellow.

I also wanted to state, because you have to build so many fail stacks to upgrade jewelry, a lot of people use cheap items to build stacks, I instead am building failstacks with new armor items I plan to eventually use which will make me more versatile based on the type of fights I am involving myself in.
