Deaths in the Dark Zone - lose what?

What is at risk when you die in the DZ?

Specifically I am wondering about phoenix coins and DZ keys.

U lose dz items that u are carrying, a small amount of dz xp and dz funds.  The loss of xp and credits is so minimal that you can kill a mob and be right back to where u were(at least at low lvls).

Rogue - you lose a bunch of exp and credits.

Not rogue - hardly enough to notice. Exp, keys, dz cash, containment loot you haven't extracted.

What causes the "rogue" status?

Doing enough damage to another player to flag yourself as rogue

In its current state going rogue really isn't worth it. The reward for surviving is silly compared to what you lose. You would gain roughly the same amount of DZ cash as killing a few NPC's. You would lose (death as a rogue) potentially hours of EXP and DZ funds as well as any loot you have and any DZ keys you are carrying.

As it stands I still think a low level alt for rogue night would be best because I doubt anyone would want to die as a rogue on their main.

It's very easy to go rogue too, such as when a player randomly crosses your sights as you are firing. I foresee that as the major griefing component.

You are, of course, correct. -JC

Already happening, Hayt. That and others shooting you just once in hopes that you will shoot them. Back and go rogue.

I still see groups waiting till the group is extracting and then start shooting them to take their loot.

It seems the current DZ rules will require a pvp alt to mitigate the loss of hard earned xp. Reading on the penalty for dying while rogue it seems you lose hours of gameplay at higher ranks.

I read the same thing.  There is no way I will be participating in Rogue nights with my main the way the current system is implemented.  It's ridiculous the way things are implemented currently and frankly has me wondering about long term play-ability.

That about sums it up for me too.  I am really liking the game but for as long as it was in development they probably should have had this figured out better by now.  Then again maybe this is exactly how they want it.  There have been a few head scratching moments from me but I think I am still getting my money out of it.

I love the game.  There are only a few things that bother me, the penalty for dying as a rogue being the biggest.  There are a couple of ability activation things, but nothing show stopping.

I feel I will easily get my money out of it.  A story based light FPS game that is good fun is how I see it now.  However, long term for me, would mean heavy pvp DZ play and right now that is not going to happen at least on my main.  Rolling up a 2nd person even to 30 isn't a huge deal.  However, if you have a weapon that required a minmum DZ level and then you drop below that level, does that mean you can't use it anymore?  If so, the alt Rogue route doesn't make sense because you would be outgunned.

DZ level is only needed to purchase the item. You could get all good gear from your main and equip it on your alt.

I have yet to go into the DZ but am really enjoying the game.  I am really excited about the possibilities this franchise has.
