Tom Clancy's The Division / Re: Tom Clancy's The Division 2 clans

We hit the required members to unlock clan progression.

To those wanting to join,  you'll need to unlock the Clan NPC Grace Larson at the Theater settlement.  She'll transfer to the White House and open up the clan system to you.

It's fun, just wish the LED back light matched my keyboard's pattern.

You can change the back light to any color that has a hex code.   Click on the cog on your profile settings.  Change back light from Hue Rotation to Fixed color and pick what you like.  You can even change the OLED animated cube.  Unless you have a rotating colors on your keyboard then you're SOL. :)

By far the best mouse I've ever used, but it should be for the price. So many options.

RE : Raids

Virpil Controls

First and foremost, flying using keyboard and mouse is perfectly adequate.  I would add they are planning more non-flying content in the future.  The keyboard and mouse will remain standard for the game.

If you want to take it to the next step, I highly recommend dual T16000’s from Thrustmaster.   Read or watch a few guides on dual stick set ups and adjust to your liking.  I think they even have a stand-alone throttle now.

If you want to join crazy people, you have options from Thrustmaster (warthog), Virpil and VKB.  I decided to go with Virpil.   The Noobifier1337 has several videos on Virpil and Thrustmaster.  He is planning a series on VKB and then comparing the flight sticks.

Personal Experience:

After some research I decided to go with Virpil.  They are heavily in-demand but give time windows when they restock the online store.  I stayed awake one Sunday (window was 1-3AM EST) and was able to get my order in.  They generally take a week to process and then another week to ship.  TNT/FedEx.

•   Professional build quality
•   Dual Cams per axis (replaceable)
•   Software is easy to use
•   *Solid Customer Service

•   Expensive
•   Problems keeping items in stock due to demand
•   Sticks are plastic construction (I like the warthog metal)
•   Replacing or swapping cams requires moderate skill with tools (exposed circuit boards and small wires)

*So how does there customer service rank?   I had an issue with one of the sticks.  One of the hat switches did not work on arrival, so I reached out under a warranty issue.  It did take about two weeks for them to reply, but once they did everything went clockwork.  They issued a pick up and took care of shipping both ways at no cost to me.  Between the initial delay, fix and international shipping it took two months.

While I wasn’t thrilled with the two week delay to respond.  I’m happy a company in Belarus, picked up my hardware, fixed it and then sent it back at no cost.  Yes my stick has made three international trips.   They were also very apologetic for the issue.   From what I’ve read about VKB, I would be SOL.

I’m currently using dual stick (HOSAS).  I’ll post more as I get more time on them and after the new flight model.  I’m curious if the new model will incorporate a throttle more (HOTAS).

**Disclaimer – I am not a flight sim fanatic, this is written from a Star Citizen player vantage point.  I try not to get lost in the details and focus on what works and doesn’t work for me.   Your mileage may vary.

02/23/2019 Edit - The Noobifier has since put out a comparison video on some flight sticks.

From time to time I noticed folks asking for opinions on hardware on the general forum.  I wanted to hijack and angle it to a Star Citizen perspective.

I know some have special desks, brackets, heavy duty mice, keyboards, and a mess of flight sticks.   Please share what worked for you what didn't.  It doesn't need to be an essay unless you want it to be.

if I break down and play this; it will be on PC.  but that is a BIG IF

I wish I had overwhelming evidence that it's going to be awesome, but I'm taking a leap too.   They are addressing a lot of issues I had with the first version, we'll see...

SO....are we playing this? If so, what platform? I miss messing around with you F%^KERS. So I really don't care what game/genre we roll to, just as long as people wanna play. (Still hoping the best for Crowfall)

It sounds like we have a few scattered about.  I have three local TG members that are planning on jumping in with me (SWTOR vets).  Always happy to play with other TG members, maybe we can get a few groups rolling.  The raids ( 8 ) are double the group size ( 4 ).

Still hesitant on the Dark Zone, but it sounds like they did a lot of work on them.  Time will tell.

My UPlay handle is WobblyDingo.

Is anyone else looking at The Division 2?

I'm weary of IP's and sequels,  but I may give this one a look.

General Discussion / Re: Shadow computer

I was curious about this and while drinking my morning coffee I poked around their website.

It appears you need to purchase the Shadow Box (Thin Client hardware) if you need hardware to run their software (VDI).  The subscription only covers the service and you would need to download their app on a device with an operating system.  Either of those would run the VDI session.

Availability of the Shadow Box is currently limited.

It's not very clear on the surface and this is my interpretation.  I will correct if any errors are pointed out.

I've been using a Razor Naga Hex for the last few years and it's worked well across a bunch of games.

I just received in the mail today a new Swiftpoint Z.  I can't tell you my personal experience with it just yet, but people swear they are the best mouse they have ever used.  We'll see...

With the flight changes coming in 3.5, it might be a beast.
