Crowfall / Race and Class Groups - Complimentary Training
« on: August 12, 2018, 12:56:27 AM »
With the new skill system in the past 2 versions, I'm going to put down my ideas for my skill training. I highly suggest everyone at least get on to start the skill training, then log in a day-week later to spend those point to get an understanding. Training is 3x faster so you'll get a great understanding pretty quickly.

Exploration (leads to harvesting)

Guinecean or Stoneborn
Fae or Elken

Rogue - Duelist
Mage - Cleric (except Fae) or Druid (Fae)

Race and Class will be important because you'll want 2 complimentary races and classes now that double dipping is removed. What I mean by complimentary, Fae and Elken are both behind the Faerie tier so swapping between them should be pretty easy, much easier than trying to get Human and Fae.

As an example for Race:

Mankind - Pure-Blood - Human | Nethari
             - Half-Blood - Half-Elf | Half-Giant
Sylvan - Elf - Wood-Elf | High-Elf
           - Faerie - Fae | Elken
Monster - Hybrid - Centaur | Minotaur
            - Underfoot - Stoneborn | Guinecean

My races and corresponding class:

stone - knight, champ, myrmidon, cleric
guin - knight, cleric, duelist

fae - asn, druid, frostweaver
elk - knight, confessor, temp, range, cleric

While writing this out I've decided, although my willpower will have to be pretty high, to complete each tier before moving to the next.  In the Race example above, finish Monster then finish Underfoot, this will allow me to swap between Stoneborn and Guinecean as I'm getting bodies. Actually Race is a bad example but the Class would make a difference.  Although the last Race and Class tiers are a year to a year-and-a-half away.

edit: found out skill speed is 3x not 10x.

Crowfall / New Skill Training!
« on: July 29, 2018, 12:10:33 AM »
just found out, yesterday, that the skill training is slightly different.

instead of training a skill directly, we now train a group then spend points into a skill (of that group).  this is how people were training. they were using the spirit bank as a catch all then spending the points.

Here's the 5.6 milestone overview that explains it.

Other Games and Interests / Fractured MMO | Isometric | ARPGMMO
« on: June 20, 2018, 02:50:35 AM »
Fractured MMO is a new ARPGMMO that's going to combine PvP, PvE and PvX by splitting them into planets.

There will be three major Races in Fractured. These races will dwell on their own planet with options to travel to the others via invasions, or if your alignment changes.

Beastkin live on the Arboreus (PvE) planet which has lush greens, beautiful plant life.  Beastkin have four sub-races, Chadra (Tiger-kin), Udoadra (Wolf-kin), Nheedra (Bear-kin), and Erwydra (Hart-kin, think deer). Beastkin can transform into their respected primal forms. Beastkin live in harmony and their alignment is good.

Humans live on the Syndesia planet. A place where order or chaos can exist. They are neutral toward the other races but often fight off the invading Demons or they invade the Beastkin. Lacking in strength they are curious creatures and have developed technology that keep them from being victims of Demons. Free will allows humans to be whatever they wish.

Demons live on the Tartaros planet which is dry, scorched and resource-deprived. They live in a ruthless environment and don't have many rules so they fight each other at every opportunity. Having three sub-races, Blood Demons (Vampires),  Shadow Demons (Nightmares), and Hellfire Demons (Infernals). Demon hate the Beastkin and Humans and start in an evil alignment.

What sets Fractured apart from other games is the Knowledge system. It's similar to Path of Exile in that there are plenty of choices, at 400, but you aren't restricted in their use. You can pick any 8 abilities to create your own build!

There are no player levels so exp grinding isn't needed. Knowledge dictates that you'll explore the lands and other planets to unlock new abilities and spells.

Knowledge abilities and spells have three tiers which grant slight power.

Fractured is a rough place to live and you don't venture out of a city without proper gear and consumables. Being scantily dressed while venturing north into the snow will surely lead to death! Likewise wearing furs and heavy clothes in the swamp will slow you down and make your travels slower.

Did you pack a lunch.. or two or...
Food is very important in Fractured. You can't travel far without it.  After a days travel you'll need to rest. Build that camp fire and forget about the wolves about to attack you!

Full Loot
Fractured will offer full loot.  Syndesia (human) and Tartaros (demon) planets will have frequent eclipses which allow the demons to invade without any disadvantages. It also allows the humans to invade Tartaros too!

Like Crowfall crafting will play a very important part in Fractured. The player run economy will not offer gear for sale and might have very limited food and drink for your travels. Everything is player crafted!

Castles and Invasions
Villages can be built, turned into cities, turned into castles. These can be invaded and captured! The owner of the villages can setup taxes and plot prices.

Pre-Alpha gameplay video

A human building a house:

Fractured will be on Kickstarter starting on June 25th and will last 30 days. The game is slated in 2 years for retail release with pre-alpha potinetually happening at the end of the year, while alpha and beta will happen over the course of '19. (subject to change of course)

Fractured has a pretty unique referral system setup in that it allows a person to level up their forum account to get some cosmetic rewards. This is the most active pre-kickstarter community I've seen because of it.

Just wanted to notify people that Beta will start July 4. the NDA will up for limited parts and will be removed during Beta.

Lifetimes accounts[1]( will be removed sometime in Beta with Refund changes. At least 30 days noticed will be given before they're removed. I know many have disgust with Lifetime but for CU it's 190$ then 1$ per year.

Crowfall / 5,4.2 on LIVE server
« on: January 31, 2018, 01:30:22 AM »
Just a heads up ACE pushed the 5.4 patch to LIVE, so get those skills training (forgot to post when I announced it on discord).

Biggest thing now is VIP for 2nd skill training and 30 days of Time Bank.
Craft Recipes now require Skills.
It doesn't seem like the skills are progression to the next pip, so you'll have to dump your Bank or start after the ORANGE time mentioned.

Crowfall / [TEST] 5.4 Pre-Alpha Test Notes
« on: January 07, 2018, 12:43:41 AM »
This applies to the TEST server which may have a limited duration 5.4 test.  5.4 has the 'you need skills to craft beyond basic' and the sacrifice system.

The notes are pretty long so I'm just going to link the source.

This has VIP enabled. which allows for 2 skills to train! I'm not sure about Bank as I'm unable to check.

Crowfall / Time Bank
« on: December 27, 2017, 01:59:20 PM »
Time Bank is a mechanic added that saves time after a skill is complete. The maximum amount of time saved for non-vip is 24h, the maximum for VIP is 30 days. This allows you to sleep at 3am when a skill will finish and can use that time when you wake up to add to the next skill or pip of the current skill you were training.

If you are training right now in 5.3 and you missed some time, I suggest you dump some of that banked time so you can use it.

Each Group PROFESSION, RACE & CLASS has their own BANK so empty them all!

Crowfall / Divine Sacrifice
« on: December 23, 2017, 07:44:34 PM »

Today we’re revealing another game system: the Sacrifice system. One might ask “why do you need this system?” and it’s a great question. In general, we have reached a point in the project where we are trying to go back and finish systems, not add new ones. So first let’s talk about the design issues that we felt we needed to address, and then we’ll jump into our solution – and why we believe it is the right path.

The basic idea behind this system is that players collect resources, items, and relics and sacrifice them to the Gods for divine favor. This idea dovetails perfectly into our lore, as the central conceit of our game is that the players have been selected as immortal champions of the Gods, Crows sent forth to scavenge the Dying Worlds for resources, relics, and thralls.

You can sacrifice anything for divine favor... which means that anything that allows player to collect resources or items (exploring, harvesting, crafting, looting in PvP, everything) can be converted into advancement. (This means every item in game has a baseline value to someone.)

Crowfall / a perspective from the recent playtest
« on: August 15, 2017, 02:12:16 AM »
This was posted on the official CF forums in the playtest feedback and I wanted to share. I emphasized the last point because it felt important.

* The location of POIs really matters. Strategically, Balance has easier access to stone and more difficult access to ore. This isn't a bad thing, just interesting.
* It felt like we were playing a game of Civilization where each unit was a human player. Controlling more territory, more securely, enabled us to extract more resources.
* Gathering while you're being harassed is very challenging
* Gatherer and bandit are both fun roles to play, and require vastly different strategies
* Gathering is not as bad as I expected, it required a lot of teamwork and coordination and even being the gatherer felt like I was contributing and didn't make me yearn for a combat role
* I love that being a solo gatherer is so much less efficient than working with others
* Scouts, information, and cartography matter. One raiding party was able to relieve a gathering party of hundreds of ore utilizing a very capable scout and superior information/element of surprise. This was incredible to see from both sides, and both did a great job, all things considered.

Other Games and Interests / Secret World Legends - Scripts
« on: July 15, 2017, 08:54:11 PM »
SWL and Age of Conan allow the use of HTML based scripts to give a 'popup' info panel in game. It's great for wanting to convey more information than posting it in a chat frame.

I'm wondering how hard it would be to create a web based app that has a wysiwyg at top and the code at the bottom? For reference it's pretty simple HTML with some DIV for centering and FONT for size, face and color.

I use a very simple version for my item power (item level), spec and role. The problem is needing to constantly update it as my ilevel increases.  I'd like to see others use it and it could be great way to get our guild out in the game. I think it'd be pretty sweet to have in my FAQ script a link on how to easily create these scripts without html knowledge <link to TG webpage>!

Code: [Select]
/lookingforgroup <a style="text-decoration:none" href="text://<div align=center><font color=#990000 face=HEADLINE>Blood DPS</font></div><br><font color=#66CCFF face=LARGE>iP: 118<br><br>Looking For: Elite 1</font><br><br><font color=#FFFF00 face=LARGE>Can post DPS parse!</font><br><br><div align=center><font face=TSWLARGE><a href='chatcmd:///tell %m I want your deeps'>&#171; PM %m &#187;</a> <a href='chatcmd:///invite %m'>&#171; Group with %m &#187;</a></font></div>"><font color=#FF6600>DPS LF e1</font></a>
This is my script for [looking for group] channel. the /lookingforgroup is the channel name and can be any text/color before the link in chat.

I'm curious how difficult this would be to do? Maybe I should have posted it to the webTG section.
